Let me explain what I know

8750bt support iphone and android phone

If you plan to show some of the apps or gps apps on the HU, there is few ways

Iphone (Just connect the iphone cable with the USB port 1 will do)

Got 2 options

1. Install AppRadio, but this see to have compatible issue with IOS 8, you can just google then u can see a lot information

2. Carplay mode, this is new, but limited function, I test this already, it work, but, really, lack of function.

Android

I install the HDMI cable module and link to the USB 2 at the HU, this is not include in the HU package, but, I think for android user, must install it. After in stall, it got a micro USB head for you to plug in to your android phone.

1. Mirror link mode - Connect the micro USB (the HDMI module) with your phone, at the setting, set to use android phone, and then select display with mode HDMI, now, you can see your phone screen appear on the HU screen. In this mode, what you see on your phone, is actually what you see on the HU. You cannot control your phone via the HU screen.

If you put your phone as portrait mode, the HU will show the screen as portrait mode

2. AppRadio mode -

i. Install AppRadio apps from Play store

ii. Launch AppRadio apps and then in the apps, install those apps that show in AppRadio, e.g. Waza

iii. Connect the micro USB (the HDMI module) with your phone, at the setting, set to use android phone, and then select HDMI.

iv. Turn on your bluetooth and connect with your phone

v. At your HU, press the mode button, you should able to see the HU with different user interface which is the AppRadio interface, you can launch the apps as Waze there. (If you do not see any new interface, may be you need to launch the AppRadio apps on your phone first)

Regardless how you put your phone, landscape or portrait, the AppRadio able to show the apps with full screen with landscape mode.

3. Android Auto - This mode only support with Android version 5 (Lollipop), I am using Note 2, which is android 4.4 (kitkat), so I cant test this function, not sure need to plug in the cable or not... Note 4 I think receive the update to Android 5 already, you can try this mode.

Bro, this is a very clear and long explanation. Thank you for ur effort. Really appreciate it.

Just wanna find out more on this statement:

I install the HDMI cable module and link to the USB 2 at the HU

1) this means there are 2 wire and 2 separate ports? The HDMI and the USB?

2)Or just one wire which is plugged into one port, ie, USB2 at the HU? If so, what exactly is this HDMI cable module thing? Software? An USB-HDMI adaptor?

3) or Issit the USB-HDMI adaptor has 2 ports, one to plug in HDMI wire, one to plug in USB wire and each of these 2 wires are then connected to the HU?

Something like this?

Bro, I let the technician to install it, I dunno how is the setup

But, you are right, we need that device that you show (it cost > RM100 for that thing)

My end result after the installation is

USB 1 - Normal USB cable for user to plug in USB Thumbdrive, or Iphone cable

USB 2 - A micro USB cable that for android phone to plugin (It should be setup by the diagram you show)

Before I install, I also feel confuse about it, well, I just tell my technician, I want to plug in Iphone and as well as android phone.

After install then I only study how it work...

This is HU is many times better than my previous unit 5650BT

Can play photo slideshow fast, play almost any kind of video (no need to convert to the respective ratio)

Touch screen more responsive as well, no regret at all!

If not mistaken, mine is samsung brand

You may just get advice from the workshop, sometime you request brand A, but they only have brand B

For me, I don't care, if it work, then I will be happy.

Enjoy with your HU!!!

Neutral Newbie

Problem using phone keyboard with CarPlay

With car in park and parking brake engaged, I call my voicemail with CarPlay. I can place call with voice or keypad. Once the call is connected the keypad is still accessible, but the keys don't do anything. When my voicemail prompts me for a password, it does not hear the keys from the keypad. Same problem when I want to join a conference call. Keypad is silent. It does not produce the DTMF signal after the call is connected. I can not use an automated call handling system, e.g. "press 1 for English"

Anyone else have this problem?

My firmware is v1.03.

Neutral Newbie

I used Chuan Sing Audio Pte Ltd. Blk 18 Sin Ming Industrial Estate #01-27 S(575676) Tel. 6459-1181

After pricing shopping they had best price $880. Service was quick and good. I did not have an HDMI cable, but they said if I came back with one they would reinstall it for me at no extra charge.

Hi All,

Just want to share my humble opinion about the AVH-X8750BT. I think after all the hype and expectation, I was a little disappointed. I was expecting for a $900+ device it would include the GPS and a host of other functions. But in any case the sound quality is what Pioneer stands for and I must say sound quality is immaculate as always. The main thing I was looking for was the hype about Car Play. Wtf was it all about? After playing with it for a while. Here are some notes.

1. USB1 for iPhone/iPod ONLY.

2. USB2 for Android Phones ONLY. do not mix them up. does not work.

3. USB1 or 2 can read FAT32 format USB drives upto 64GB.

4. Play movies all sorts mp4, mov, mkv etc etc. Cannot output to Rear monitor(s), IF your phone is connected!! be aware.

5. Better if you install the steering wheel vol -/+ fwd/rwd AND if you have the "speak" button even better.

My full comparison and evaluation of Car Play and Android Auto (ver 1.3) is in the table below.

Phones tried were. iPhone 5S, iPhone 6.

XiaoMi 4i 16GB w Android 5.1 (Lollipop) no mirrorlink

Xperia Z3 w Android 5.1 - Mirrorlink works

Samsung S5 w Android 5.1 - Mirrorlink works

My Conclusion

-------------------

I prefer the Android Auto interface. At version 1.3 they still have some catchup to do with the functionality. The interface however is appealing and has what drivers are looking for at one quick glance. With the CP you are stuck with the 8 pieces of same "clunky" icon or huge fonts song titles (hardly seen album art in the background). I must say for the first time, Apple lost the appeal factor here.

The only advantage I see that the iPhone has, is the Music store - iTunes. You can buy new music and listen to it immediately. You can't do that with Google Music Play (btw does not display chinese characters properly). You have to get a Mac/PC to transfer on to the phone. That's why I use Spotify to find the songs. iHeartRadio is cool too... hope the local radio station will be on board.

If I were to attach a phone permanently to the AVH-X8750BT it will be the Samsung S5 w AA. I am sure more apps will come on board.

cheers,

Ken
