zerobim08 4th Gear July 9, 2015 Author Share July 9, 2015 Since 150bhp now belongs to Cat B, does this mean you "officially" need to inform LTA by right, but by left......... Best not to do. Not just because of LTA but more scary is the voiding of insurance (just imagine paying compensation for injury from your own pocket). ↡ Advertisement

Wise words... most insurance nowadays very touchy over mods... it can be a easy excuse for them to void coverage. If accident, the potential lawsuits and repair costs and human injury claims can be hundreds of thousands.... only the very brave and deep pocket should attempt. tyco_kia 4th Gear July 9, 2015 Share July 9, 2015 I'm wondering, does it help to move off from rest using manual mode, so as to reduce the possibility of the juddering problem? i.e. use manual for gears 1 and 2. Does it help? The juddering problem that you experience is because you let the car free-roll too much before accelerating. Because your car is essentially a manual car, the reason for juddering is because there isn't enough acceleration power hence it sort of "chokes". Try driving a manual car and moving off from 1st gear without accelerating while still engaged in half-clutch position. You will experience the same thing. You need to adjust your driving habits such that when at a complete stop, quickly accelerate first after releasing the brakes instead of letting the car move forward first. This should prevent your car from juddering. Hope this helps.

The main idea is to get enough momentum before the gear change from 1st to 2nd gear (you have about 2 secs before the gear shift) If you let the car roll off slowly and when it shifts to 2nd the car does not have enough speed which makes it struggle in gear 2.

vbchia 1st Gear July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 Actually my second key didn't work (collected my car 26 December 2014), they checked the OBD to compare with the code in the key fob and the Service Supervisor came and asked me if I modified my car. I just told him that I remapped the air/fuel flow and now my fuel consumption is much better now. He just nodded his head and smiled. I'm still waiting for them to order a new key replacement though.......... Wise words... most insurance nowadays very touchy over mods... it can be a easy excuse for them to void coverage. Ummm, even if the programme used is the same one they use for all other Audi A3 1.4 TFsi for other markets? Only that Singapore's shipment is tuned to 122 Bhp. The one I had in China was tuned to 150 Bhp and my UK colleague's is also 150 Bhp.

This govt may tolerate a lot of brickbats but one thing it doesn't tolerate is you cheating on them. I suspect those million dollars brains may have devise some measures to prevent cheating when the it introduced the 130hp limit.
Ckhaos Clutched July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 On another matter, does any A3 owner have the various Assist options installed, namely Park Assist, Active Lane Assist (to keep steering wheel centered in the lane), Side Assist (blindspot warning), Adaptive Cruise Control (automatic braking during cruise control), etc.? Are they worth getting in the Singaporean road context?

Thanks. ccs I think the A3 sedan was launched in 3rd quarter 2014 (the sportsback maybe earlier). In Jan 2015, I think the sedan price was around $136k dropping to a low of $130k around CNY. Before the last COE round, someone mentioned it was $140+.
Qawsed Neutral Newbie July 18, 2015 Share July 18, 2015 Hi, can I check which type of petrol u guys use? The first tank my SE told me is shell98, i feel quite powerful when acceration. After that I switched to ESSO98, as I usually pump there, immediately I feel power loss during acceration compare to shell, unless i step a bit harder. Today I switched back to shell98 and will try a few more tanks. Any feedbacks?

Is it you saw the souped up A3 with the S-line package? Aircon should be dual-zone (the one with the 3 rotary knobs). ↡ Advertisement
