Supercharged

I noticed this quirk about the A3. When I park on a slope or when the ground is uneven, when I'm moving off, I find the gear very stiff.

I have to use a bit of force to move it to 'D' and it makes a crunching noise even when i depress the button the gear stick all the way down before shifting it.

Does anybody else notice that?

On normal flat ground, the gear stick shifts to 'D' without using force.

Maybe next time when i park on a slope, i should release the parking brake first before shifting the gear stick? I'm just afraid of damage in the long run and the parking space at my office is not totally flat so I find myself crunching the gear every evening before I leave the office.

Normal for auto cars... don't worry about it

Hi everyone. i am looking at this second hand A3 registered in Jul 2015.

Is it worth to buy this or buying a new one is better?

http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=557027&DL=2527

In addition, at what KM is the 2nd, 3rd and 4th servicing for audi due?

Thank you for your advice.

New is 122k i tink. So unless u push down the price more. New would be better and facelift model coming late this yr or early nxt yr i tink.

I personally dont like low mileage almost new car. Seems like it is always in the workshop for repairs.

Hmm i dont drive an A3 but i dont have this issue on my auto car.

$112K asking price.. negotiation the most is another $3000-$5000 max. Let's assume best case scenario $107K or so.

New car is around $122K as mentioned. $15,000 difference.

If you wait for FL model, it's even more worthwhile because the FL one looks damn sweet. Baby A4 in my opinion.

Also, I think the new FL model comes with slightly more kit.

Other factors worth considering is:

1. New car smell (maybe not so evident in the used unit)

2. Car condition

3. Longer warranty period

4. Peace of mind since you are first owner if you buy new

When you park up hill/down hill, stop your car, shift to (N)eutral, pull hand-brake, release brake (make sure car is not moving. This is to release gear engage tension), step on brake again, shift to (P)ark.

Moving off from up hill/down hill, step on brake, shift to (D)rive, release hand-brake, release brake and off you go.

You wont hear crunching sound this way, hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip @hairywolf. Will try it this evening.

Sounds fairly reasonable given the low mileage and the fact the car is less than a year old. (I've already done about 6000km in less than six months!) Plus you can push it down even more if you bargain more.

The first owner has already taken the hit so even if you don't like it and decide to sell later, your loss is much less than what he has already lost selling it now.

Downside of course is you don't really know what is the history of the car and the real reason for the sale. If you prefer peace of mind and don't mind paying, then of course new is the way to go.

Wow, such low mileage car. It stated depreciation at 11k+ per year, I dun mind going for it. But new facelift coming with the chio chio cockpit navi and RS3 front bumper, I'll choose the later.

The facelift A3 has slight changes on lights, interior more or less the same. Price will be much higher than now.

If COE drop to 30k+, Price could be what we've paid for our ride. In Singapore is all about how much you paid for COE.

If you intend to drive all the way till scrap, for a diff of only 15k, definitely buy new. If you only want to drive a few years, maybe 5-6years or less, you can buy this as this car does have higher paper value(56k Coe vs new car 45k coe)

Cars like this, you can request the seller to call AD in front of you to verify the service history. You will know whether is genuine low mileage, and also the number of times it went to AD and for what kind of problems if any. Considering this car is less than 1yr old and less than 15k km done, most likely is not due for 1st servicing yet.

The depreciation of this car (assume $3K - $5K nego is done) is quite on par with a new car so it looks like a decent deal at least on paper.

However, it is the dealer I'm kinda concerned... with only 2 cars available for sale in the whole company?

Nonetheless, do check it out becos you may never know until you see it with your very eyes. :)

Now is clearing stock price, thus such a low price. Really value for $, should go for it if you are looking to replace your car.

Price for facelift A3 not out yet.

Audi always put a very high price on its price list. The actual price they are willing to sell you is typically alot lower. > 10k.
