The Mk5 GTI is a good car... is real pity our COE cause this car to be scrapped. And I guess you bought your GTI 10yrs again almost same price as the FXT.

FXT will not have the handling of the GTI.

Can bring FXT do some soft offroad driving.. Not so sure if the Golf can be driven offroad.

Yup, I have enjoyed driving the Mk5 GTI for the past 10 years.  I initially thought of renewing the COE but need a SUV to ferry my old parents (easier for them to get in and out).

While the FXT is not as agile and fast as the GTI, it still drives pretty well considering that it's a SUV.  I would say it is a value-for-money SUV considering its power, torque and symmetrical AWD.  I will drive in a more relaxed manner and enjoy the scenery with its excellent visibility and huge moon roof.

Not that expensive to replace a failed turbo... If it really fails on year 5-7. Confirm much cheaper than replacing the hybrid car battery pack

I like the OB... Just that when I was looking at both FXT and OB, the price difference is $8k more for OB.. So definitely went for FXT. If the price difference is $1-3k, I would have went for OB 2.5na instead of FXT

Many of the current FXT owner will had bought the OB if it is using the DIT engine. I will be one of them.

OB is now cheaper than FXT by 2k....with more gadgets..

Would be desirable if it is 2.0 turbo.

If I am going away for a 3 weeks holiday, is there is a need to disconnect the battery for a new Forester?

That's one way, but you'll have to set up the time/date radio station presets etc again. Not too hard to do anyway.

Just sharing, a couple of months ago, was away for close to 3 weeks. Turned off all the extra stuff (Car cam, OBD reader) that's connected. I was prepared for the batt to go flat, and have a portable jumpstarter ready. On return, car started without problem. :)

They would sell Outbacks by the boatload if it had the Forester motor. It's just about as tall as the Forester but longer hence affording more interior space. It's probably subjective but I find it's interior is better-appointed as well.

Yes, my auto wipers sensitive. While driving, Few drops of water kenna, wipers will come on.

When i start my car after rain and windscreen covered w water, it wont come, i have to manually activate wipers.

If your wipers are dragging, try wipe the blade with wet tissue and try again

Sorry if this has been asked before.  I did a search on the pdf manual and cannot find where to activate the auto rain sensing wiper.  how did you activate it?

Just got my FXT on Monday.  Still trying to find out the some features of this car.

Just push your wiper stalk to the first click and the windscreen wiping is in auto mode.

Heng I never buy OB then.. More ex by 8k then.. Now cheaper than FXT by 2k means for nothing price drop 10k despite rising Yen and falling COE

$500 more a year', thats $1.3 more per day which cost only 1 kopi peng

Does it have cheaper insurance?

More fuel efficient?

There can be many more factors the FXT can cost more than the OB over the long run.

Strange.... the price for OB has been updated... now 129k...so back to 1k more than forester.... but if it is using 2.0T engine and a moon roof... i would seriously consider....

FNA owner here. Tried ron98 for last tank out of curiosity. The fc improvement was actually quite obvious. Now thinking if want to continue use 98 instead of 95 lio. seems can protect the engine a little bit more..
