@Tohto Indeed ! Mine going Monday to MI for 180k km .. well spent 120k per km even after adding 7k for new block and recent overhaul of pistons, conrods etc. for another 7k or 134k 😅😅

Yes. At northlink.

If stock unlikely to have bent rod.

Mine unfortunately did for 2 out of 4 albeit ... not a chongster with stock engine left and likely cos tried paddle shifting and down shifted too fast and skipped a gear or 2 in most recent nshwy drive that also resulted in 1x cracked piston which fortunately was on the top portion and block is ok without debris into it. 😅😅

Nevertheless replaced injectors etc. just in case.

Btw, just replaced stock valeo aircon condenser due to cannot tahan whinning noise when accelerating and was pleasantly surprised scangage shows 3-4 deg C drop in eo temp from 95-97 if prolonged 100kmhr.

Can only guess engine was overdriven with failing aircon condenser while having eŕroneously tot that noted temp increasing was due to upsized cvt radiator's reducing airflow 3 yrs ago ... contemplating to replace stock alternator in such unaavoidable wrar n tear and should see some FC improvement 🤞😅

Cheers.

I'm surprised stock engine can cause bent rods. Have to be careful with mine. And yes, try avoiding using the paddle shifter.

Hi all… Can anyone advise how often should we replace our CVT oil for Subaru FNA? Thks!! 🙂

I only can share on my 2017 Oct fxt with already stock cvt oil cooler from factory but upgraded to a larger one with official replacement intervals at 90-100k km but I will not go beyond 40-50k km i.e. twice as often and so far so good at 180k+ km ... smooth and nvr had any abnormality .. yet.

I do enjoy new cvt oil change cos car quiets down quite a bit from already quiet and seamless cvt operation while noting fxt's is high torque cvt and fna is different.

Also note cvt oil change can be 7l drain and top up or 12l full dump and replacement .. latter recommended albeit quite expensive that I do at every 100k km.

Cheers.

Just completed hopefully the last few "refreshs" till 2 yrs more b4 1st COE expires and big question if 2nd COE will happening in Oct 2027:

1. Completed all aircon parts replacement of blower (noisy fan), cooling coil (5 yrs or 100km), aircon valve, evaporator piping as well as external air intake actuator (clicking noise) in addition to condensor, HP pipe and compressor (noisy)😍

2. Following replacement of alternator pulley (noisy) last month, water pump after 2 yrs ago and mentioned compressor, completed replacement also of main crank pulley, tensioner, idler pulley as well as V belt .. think almost complete moving parts done in addition of pistons, con rods, injectors etc.😍

Hope to try out yokohama advan db 533 to replace 2+ yrs or 50k km michelin primacy 4 just about the right time instead of primacy 5 for reportedly cushy and compliant ride. 🤞🤞

Think I have given the upmost due care for my sjg xt  within my means regardless 2nd COE or not but especially if no 2nd COE in appreciation for the nice, fun and safe driving for the last 8 yrs 🥲🥲

Car now drives like new .. responsive and quiet with fresh cold air 🍻🍻🥳🥳

PS: Plan for new ignition coils on hold as ws advised not needed since never had oil leak especially 2x overhaul .. it will be obvious jerky if any such replacement need

My XT will end its COE in April 2026.

Deciding whether to renew COE, or get an EV. If EV, likely Sealion as it seems best value (as of now).

My XT has been good to me, now heading to 150k km and relatively problem free, except for AC issues and wheel bearings.

From my workings, getting the Sealion is about $30,000 more in terms of costs of ownership spread over 10 years, if I renew COE at say $140k.  Any views welcome? Still quite indecisive. Including views from anyone who had switched to EV from XT.

cheers

PM Tohto.

EV has higher road tax and insurance (in general).  But maintenance will be low (mostly tyres).

Hmmmh ... how is getting the BYD Sealion even presumably Cat A one be "only" sgd 30k more  ?

I do not believe Sealion Cat A is sgd170k at COE of 140k but sgd 210k+ but if it is, I would strongly recommend that you go for it especially mentioned problem free so far can only mean a lot problem coming soon. Nothing beats having a brand new car for the family and no expected repair costs albeit not with the same power ride like the forester xt (I test drove the Cat A Sealion 7) while comfort is miles ahead.

Cheers.

PS: Do try Gemini AI with all the needed consideration and complete financial pros and cons but you also need to put a subjective value to having a brand new car and expected usage which yrs seems typical <20k km/yr with insufficient petrol saving at today's fuel $ if it is the only consideration
