Need help - For 2016 Forester, is the 3rd brake light (at roof spoiler) made of one LED assembly or individual LED cell ? One of the LED cell not working, wonder if need to replace whole LED assembly. Thank you.

Not sure if you have found the answer yet but you can see this link. The third brake light is one single assembly and the way the video show how to replace it.

@M3ngl4ng

1. Timing Chain Cover oil leak
2. CVT Noises
3. Brake Booster stiffness
4. Wheel Bearing noises
5. Control arm and bushings noises
6. CVT heat exchanger (potential risk where coolant and CVTF mix causing GB to seize)
7. radiator, radiator hoses

best if if owner has full service records then u can see what has been replaced and when. alternatively try to get an agreement with owner/car dealership to have the car inspected by a workshop like BMS or BKS.

most prolly when u confirm the car there are quite some stuff you need to do to the car BUT if you plan to only drive for 2 years and scrap then u get some other car better.

Hi, Probably already known to those well informed bros but do note for more spirited drivers, below is "STI" version of engine mounts that are probably stiffer aka harder .. they are denoted AS and not SG ... latter are stock one which I just changed to:

STI part number ST41022AS000/ST41022AS010 reinforced engine mount set for BRZ/86 owners

Cheers.

Hi Richard, sorry to bring up this older post of your sharing on this STI engine mounts. Are you using these now in your FXT? I want to know they are noticeably much harsher than stock mounts. And also pls let me know where I can get them installed locally? Many thanks!

Hi Orixy,

No problem at all .. very quiet here these days as our foresters age.

I bought these from Japan via Sendico for a kaki who had since sold his forester and unfortunately cannot advise the difference if any or any local ws having them but any of them can install if available to them.

With apology and cheers.

Richard

No worries Richard, thanks for your quickly response. Hope others here who are using these STI engine mounts can share their experience.

I am on STI engine mounts and pitch mounting, installed locally at BKS.

Can feel the difference in terms of noise from the engine is slightly louder, responsiveness wise is quicker now.

@Orixy using hardrace instead of OEM mounts. less vibrations felt especially during engine startup and shutdown. response wise is a tad more nimbler than oem mounts.

Thanks Richard. I googled the part numbers and they always lead to BRZ, are they common parts that also work on FXT and WRX?

Btw, I asked Lesun and they don't sell these.

Yes, the STI mountings are originally meant for BRZ. Just that one managed to get the dimensions checked and installed in a Forester. Thus we are able to enjoy having STI engine mountings in our Foresters. I am inclined to have stronger engine mountings in exchange for a sportier drive.

Lesun mostly is selling stock parts unless they have special shipments.

Drive a 2016 FXT with 160,000KM - Mostly reliable journey for last 7 years. Recently i will hear rattle ONLY when pressing throttle, especially cold start. No rattle at idle or highway speed. Workshop immediately diagnose as Catalytic Converter. But no fault code.

I change bracket once before because exhaust rattle all day all night at any speed or idle. This time is only when accelerating and when engine is not super warm yet.

Any FXT or FNA change CAT before? My guess is at 160KM mileage also can be reasonable wear n tear item?

Your inputs much appreciated.

@sugarhill my FXT pushing 180k liao..... but no such rattle coz everything aftermarket.

apart from engine mountings, might wanna check GB mounting, cv axles and suspension bushings.

cat converters usually won't coz rattling wor and if cat has issue engine light will come on leh

Thanks @5ub23r0 You are correct!

I went to the most popular workshop at Bukit Merah, and the senior tech drove my car one round and decided very definitively that my CAT need to replace. When I suggested to him my car got no error code - he did not hesitate to say when CAT spoil, also have sound. He later quoted S$3000 for refurb CAT plus 2 new 02 Sensors! The workshop name start with A. ( Avoid at all cost - not honest!!)

I immediate called my usual workshop, Subaru specialist at Northlink  and over the phone he told me CAT spoil no sound and ask me to send to him to check. He hoist and one look found a broken bracket, replaced and rattle gone!!

Cost was $40.

Hi all. My 95kkm subaru forester xt has some "klock klock" sound, especially when going over hump. Had it checked and some bolts & nuts have been tightened but the noise still persist. I have not changed the engine mouting before. Is it possible that the noise is coming from the engine mount. TIA.
