Plus I am not a Zeng car guy, even rims also stock all the way. So I rather get a bit more power and nicer rims.
SimonChow 1st Gear May 27, 2016 Share May 27, 2016 (edited) Hi tohto, Yesterday showroom price difference of $15k cos the I-L having promotion ... Either car can afford but save less ... Hi wongexcel, My wife don't drive so auto tailgate not an issue ... Hi stripes, My accord jdm is those 152bhp & not those euro type ... So I-L is comparable to my present .... Hi sjgdkk8, I'm the only driver in my family, 17 or 18 rim size is ok so long it's stock rim with it ... Btw anyone's here drove XT & regret not driving like turbo whereby anyone's here drove I-L & regret for not getting the xt ... Btw today sgcarmart got 1 article recommended xt for singapore road since our road mostly on Tarmac surface to enjoy the speed & ride .... I'm those who probably won't get to use the full power of the turbo but the generous amount of torque available at low rpm (due to the turbo) is a good enough reason for me to get the FXT. It will be safer to do over taking, esp when you meet those drivers that will speed up when you try to switch lanes.

What "freebies" did you ask for.? People dont seem to realise that Blackvue cameras etc are not a sign of your negotiating skills and prowess, they are all factored into the price you pay. Without realising it, a friend of mine and I both booked Foresters the same week ( I sabo him, we were on our way somewhere when I stopped in at leng kee to test drive and he followed me for the ride, then liked it so much he ended up booking the same car..) Turns out my car came with nothing other than the usual solar film etc, he had front and back cameras, boot mats and a bunch of other stuff I cant remember. We both got discounts and were happy with our deals. But mine was $2k less than his :-) You choose....

Actually after owning the FXT, I will say it drives like a XC60 or Land Rover Evoque which I previously drove, just the engine don't sound so refine. The turbo do come in handy in merging lanes or when you have a small window to overtake a road hog. Now a day all conti SUV comes with turbo, for the price you are quote, you need to be looking at least double the price for the driving pleasure in a conti, when the FXT drives like one. Just my 2 cents.

Pocus Turbocharged May 27, 2016 Share May 27, 2016 Wrx is timing belt engineNope, the New WRX and FXT uses the new FA20DIT engine, its timing chain already. How you guys decide whether to get xt or na ... Can give me some hinters which to buy if you have my final before tks.The trim and equipments apart, the general difference between XT and NA is the engine and lower power. Ask yourself is the power worth the price difference? Will you regret? How much more is that price difference over the loan period? Can you afford it? The FC will be higher, worth the power? You will know the answer quite easily.

The NA have adequate power to do so. Heck if older cars on the road can survive why not the FNA? Theres no justification or rational for a turbo engine, its all depending on what you passion for driving and the passion for turbo engine power. of course there are those to buy XT solely due to them not wanting to be seen as buying a "lower tier" version of the model, and not even using the potential of the engine. Such foolish people are there... Edited May 27, 2016 by Pocus

Yesterday I travelled 70 1st lane at west coast highway already got 1 traffic police on the overhead bridge .... So far all fxt I saw on the roads quite discipline drivers... My contributions if it helps you make up your mind between the XT and NA..My previous ride had better specs to the XT in terms of BHP, Torque and century sprint. Like you I really struggled to make the call between XT and NA. In the end I bought the NA because of cost reason in an economy that is slowing, although frankly both the XT and NA are value for money. It took awhile for me to get use to the NA, but overall I do like it and I enjoy getting into the car every day. The NA does have a nice drive as well. So I don't have any regrets but occasionally I do miss the "back push to the seat" feeling when I go full on with the acceleration pedal. Overall I find the NA powerful enough to over take 90% of the time and it does drive well enough based on my driving habits. One thing that helped made up my mind was that I never really exploited the full potential of my previous performance car because I am quite a disciplined driver so thought the NA would be just the right car for me. At a time seeing friends and colleagues losing their jobs, that 15k of saving can go a long way. Hope this helps!
mrhan1982 4th Gear May 27, 2016 Share May 27, 2016 (edited) Ive tried the forester na and xt and some other comparable SUVs such as cx5, tiguan 1.4,etc. The choice to me was quite a no brainier I chose the xt immediately. I like the upgrade audio system, memory seats, powered tail gate, extra power of the xt. Like wat some bros mentioned, u need to pay at least 2 times the price of xt for a conti suv to enjoy similar levels of driving pleasures. No kidding on that. The forester xt does rides well. In fact I feel it rises better than the BMW X3 which has stiffer and bumpier suspension. But the biggest deferent for me not choosing forester na is still the engine. I feel that even when driving at low speeds, it's doesn't sound as refine as the xt. It is more relaxing to drive the xt even st low speeds as it is less taxing on my right foot. The high torque st low revs really helps to get this heavy car move much easier. Of course I dun mind the slightly higher fc and maintenance cost of the xt. Oh ya also forgot to add. It's actually much cheaper to insurance yourself for xt compared to conti SUVs such as x3 and xc60. It cost me around 1.3k for comprehensive aviva with 20% ncd for for a 34yr old driver. The na cost about 1k for me Edited May 27, 2016 by mrhan1982 ↡ Advertisement
