Bluemice 2nd Gear December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Quick question. When in reverse gear. I see only 1 white light at rear. Did 1 bulb blow or is this a feature. Thanks. So, is this unique to subaru forester? or is this common to call new car? my old car when in reverse gear, both white light at rear will light up. I thought 1 bulb low. Almost going to send back to repair. Do you guys/girls find the reverse light quite dim ? ↡ Advertisement
gm1231s 2nd Gear December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 (edited) The main reason is that if you jump start a car which requires significantly higher crank current for the starter motor, the Forester electronics would be impacted. As the current for jumpstarting comes from both the battery and the alternator, a high enough current drawn may fry the electronics. It should be ok to jumpstart another vehicle which requires a lower or similar crank current as the Forester. That's why the instructor says that you can jump start another Subaru. However, they want to play safe and says that you should not jump start any other makes because it is very difficult to list down the crank currents of all the other makes. If you die-die must jumpstart another vehicle, look at the battery capacity/rating of the dead vehicle. If it is smaller that that of the Subaru, it may be safe to do so. If it is higher, than better not as the repair bill could be very high if the electronics is fried. Do so at your own risk. I am thinking this is likely the reason too. The trainer said "May" killed these 2 components. The one on the battery should be a fuse as a 80A was indicated on the plastic cover. I looked through the owner manual and there is a 30A fuse in the engine fuse box protecting the ABS and Vehicle Dynamics Control unit. Technically it should not be as it is being protected by the fuse. If a surge do occur, the first component to be fried will be the one beside the battery. The trainer mentioned the ABS pump modulator valve cost $5000 to replace Edited December 12, 2016 by gm1231s
Cboonh 2nd Gear December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Just curious: will the car auto-lock after not sensing the key? As in if u walk away n forget to lock the car... Based on my experience with the pre facelift model... It depends. Situation when it will re-lock: Car is locked. Owner unlock without opening the door. After abt 10s or so, the door will re-lock When it will not self-lock: After driving, power down car, owner close door and walk away.. Car will not self lock. Another interesting thing I experienced was that if your doors are centrally locked while driving... The next time a passenger unlock one of the door, get down, and close the door, the car will automatically unlock all the doors. I guess this is to prevent accidental lock out.. Pretty good stuff! forestor1973 2nd Gear December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 Sorry for being naggy. I did read thru the last few pages eyeing on the pricing for FXT but found none. Only mentioned FNA latest pricing and offerings (discount and freebies). Did anyone book FXT (listed prices is 122800)? Please do share with me the pricing and type of discount and freebies you had. Thanks a million.
Equilibrium Clutched December 12, 2016 Share December 12, 2016 XT Pin code access Hi guys, I was trying out this feature yesterday but was having problem in locking the door! Now, I have successfully set my 5 digit pin code. My steps are:- Open the driver-side door and lock the car with the lock switch on the door. Simultaneously press the keyfob's lock and trunk open buttons until you hear a long beep (this takes about 5 seconds). This means the key is disabled. Confirmed as I can't start my car now. Now, this is where the prob is. Once I close the driver side door, it just auto unlock the driver side. The rest are locked and only the driver side will auto unlock. I am not sure why this is happening and I can't seem to leave the key fob in the car and enable locking + pin code access despite successfully setting the pin code. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Carhorn 5th Gear December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Hi, does anyone install the gps? how much it cost? is it good? Save the money. Get a Garmin or other gps. Cost around 1.8k from MI. A gps is lots lesser. Minus pt is it keeps ur dashboard area clutter Anyway the hu is way too low for me to glance at it if i need to check directions and keep my eyes on the road at same time. Also future map updates (if any) needs $$. Again i may be wrong since i tiagong from my SE.

Nlatio Turbocharged December 13, 2016 Share December 13, 2016 Thanks bro will bring many bags of coins instead for the booking Just kidding less 2k with trade in less 1k for non gteed COE still quite standard haaaaa they increase another 3k for needing to count all the coins... But 1 thing I don't like is their interest rate can fluctuate base on COE one?? Sometime 2.78%, sometime 2.38%.... not sure how they go nego with the bank... But 1 thing I do like is their SE steady one.... straight tell me no need got for G COE.... sure can get.... But to clarify, I did not buy Forester in the end... I nearly nearly sign that time..... wallet nearly open and pen nearly to paper..... but was hesitant as find their interest and trade in not so good that time.... but the main reason is finance minister no like Ah Beng ride .... but I still thinking of Forester every time....

The user manual that comes with it is titled GVN60 Subaru. I was told that the map upgrades is additional cost although MI cannot tell me what is the cost. The look and feel of the Forester GPS is very similar to the stand alone Garmin sets. My unit does not support voice recognition and traffic information (my stand-alone set have both features) but other than that, it suits my needs. I supplement this with Waze on my mobile when I am travelling in Malaysia as the maps and traffic information is more up to date with Waze. ↡ Advertisement
