Good day.  Anyone successful install the window visor/rain guard for Subaru Forester XT (Year 2015).   Any good installer to recommend as I have bought the Window Visor for Year 2013 Subaru Forester XT and cannot fit properly.

You can get the Curt Hitch Receiver from eBay.

 

There are 2 types of Hitch receiver to choose. Class II (1 1/4" hitch) and Class III (2" hitch). About S$200 exclude shipping. eBay shipping from the USA is about S$100/- (not expensive actually, the weight are very heavy).

 

Go eBay search for:

 

For Class II type, search for:  "Curt Manufacturing 12100"

 

For Class III type, search for: "Curt Manufacturing 13144"

 

 

Installation instruction can be easily available from Curt website (just google for it) or from Youtube. DIY possible if you are technically incline.

 

Built quality is definitely much better than locally fabricated. As per other bro mentioned, local fabricated may not be really compliance to the Class II / Class III Hitch standard.

Whichever workshop you bring the Curt Hitch to for installing, make sure the mechanic doing the work looks at the Youtube video on how to fix first and really understand it.  There is a special tool they need to use and some local mechanics don't bother to look at the instruction manual or video and just "hantum" and end up mess up the installation.  

 

It's actually very simple if they do it right and the special tool is provided (not sure if it comes with the hitch when you purchase it or you have to buy it specially).  It's just a long wire with one end wound up to match the thread of screws used - when you see the youtube video, you will understand what I mean.

The accessories for new forester aka SJ forester usually states as 2014 Forester XT. (Even though the SJ forester starts production in 2013)

 

if you have bought accessories stating it's for 2013 Subaru Forester XT, might be for the previous Gen of forester known as SH forester

Just using some common tools and I do it alone.

 

Workshops should be better equipped and more hands to help, hence installation will be even easier and faster.

Thats excellent if the hitch reciver is that easy to install. I saw the video in youtube and it seems quite straight forward. However i have one question. Did you or can the exhaust heat shields be fitted back after installing the Curt's hitch receiver? Thank you for all the guidance:)

Just to update, i check with Subaru Management and i was told they will allow installation of Power Magic Pro but will void Warranty for battery.

I am trying to explore a different camera and asking them to help to install it (looking at Lukas Real Black Box Camera LK-9750 DUO  + GPS + Constant Power). This camera have build in cut of option which one can set at 12.3v or whichever voltage one want to set.

 

Anyone having issue with blind spot? Although side mirrors are big but i still feel there is a blind spot, anyone using any blind spot assist mirrors?

Yes. The heat shield can be put back. Just need to cut/drill a hole (as shown in the installation video). Simple and straightforward.

I pasted small round mirrors on my side mirrors. Mainly to check the kerb to prevent ramming my rims into it, but doubles up as a blind spot monitor too. You might wanna try it. Edited January 31, 2017 by Yashiro71

For me i prefer the rectangular type pasted on the xv door mirror.

Find the round ones too small.

Good thing about the xv door mirrors is that they are so big that after pasting the blind spot mirrors still no problem to use the original mirrors if you still want to.

Can get a wide variety of mirrors from Autobac.

And in fact maybe the quieter the thread, the less complaints the owners have. After all, if there are no electronics to speak off, there isn't much that can go wrong. 

The Corolla also sips petrol, so the drivers don't really have much to say about the very same things talked about here.

But now with the closure of so many branches, there might be a lot more chatter..
