Hi Roadhogger,

Your call and think you better seek clarification with your insurer or MI if you have this line of queries to me.

But yes, I do not believe Subaru Japan state that you cannot change tyres but sure, you cannot modify parts like a bigger turbo than what they had designed and fitted at factory and do not declare to your insurer or even lta and hope you know it.

Cheers.

Hi Whiterex,

I only share with bro Titanic the aliexpress link to get the camera and rakuten link for the needed video cable which is now available at SimLim Square as advised by my colleague driving a forester.

To save all the trouble since it need to drill and mounted as well as remove mfd to rewire, you can go the Class Auto c/o Roy Peh who has all the parts where bro Titanic did the installation:

Let me know if you wish to diy which I dun and I will find out Sim Lim's contact and advise aliexpress link.

Cheers.

Richard

Seem like yr options are pretty diverse/flexi (small lux sedan, large sedan, small lux cross, small cross, mid suv). Happy problem i guess. Haha.

I dunno how important the badge, size and driverability of this 2nd car is to u or your mrs but personally, of the lot u mentioned, my money is with the 6 and cx5. Since u alr got the suv in the fxt, the 6 may be worth considering. Mazdas generally look gd and handles well. Interior also quite well appointed in that price range. The audis mentioned may be too small and a3 profile looks kindda odd and "squashed" to me.

What i am unsure of is whether the concerns on subaru front windscreen/eyesight are overstated. Anyhow, i personally will prefer not to own 2 cars of the same make (novelty factor at work perhaps). I hope u find the right one soon !

Hi Scoobyfxt,

Just back from eurokar and tested the CX5 ...interior is not like mazda 6 but understandable since CX5 is more utility while Mazda6 really sedan to take of passengers with obvious touches of luxury.

CX5 is also a bit nosier from the engine being nearer and does not have automated emergency braking even in premium version and kerp for 2.5l version only while mazda6 premium has it.

Btw, their safety system is also optical but 1 camera and comes with solar film on windscreen per photo ...phew !

Leaving for KL for short trip and back to book the mazda6 on Sunday afternoon with 99% probability since CO's preference for SUV is partially met by this huge interior space.

Tks again for the comments and advice ... same for other bros that similarly help.

Cheers.

Richard

It's seems like anything MI or Subaru choose not to put will

Have chances of voiding warranty..I guess even wiper must use back original .. if not the eyesight functionalities will probably be affected..

Hi Camry,

Yes I did.

95k and the usual nice handling but lacking punch which is present very nicely in the 115k 1.5T for much betta driveability.

This also taught me the sweet spot of 1.5/1.6T but yet with lower cost of ownership ... hence even tried the eclipse compact suv with rare cool shifting and adjustable rear seats which I find aesthetically unappealing.

However, civic is interior is not so nice, too much gimicky while exterior is also not for me as well as it is too low a ride for the two precious pairs of 56 yrs old knee caps ... think very suitable for youngsters.

Cheers.

Asked my SA before on tyres, can change different brand and model but have to stick to same size and specs. Do double-confirm this with your own SA when the time comes.

Hi Roadhogger,

Subaru is reasonable but indeed if your mod non original or 3rd party parts, there is every chance that warranty will be void.

However, there is no such thing as blanket void of warranty and simply means that associated parts will be voided ..hence I said reasonable.

Just for clarification, the concern on eyesight w.r.t. solar film and your mentioned wiper is not on warranty by MI but on your insurer if they will still honour your accident claim since you fitted aftermarket solar film despite Subaru Japan telling owners not to and MI refusing to do.

Cheers.

Richard
