Active Info Display (AID) = digital instrument cluster. It is a terminology used for VW car. Audi refers to them as virtual cockpit.

The installer posted the installation here:

Interested in the AID & emblem reverse cam too.

Been thinking but haven't got to it.

Able to share the cost for this?

Is the Dynaudio upgrade going to be worth it?

I am a sound idiot and can't tell what is a good sound system. To me, loud volume equates to powerful speakers.  I enquired about Discover Pro 9.2" though. Price is higher than AID + reverse cam combined.

Pricing info for AID + reverse cam sent via PM.

Hi bro

Share the price here lah... price transparency! Haha!

I’m also interested to get AID depending on the price...

I heard it’s about $1.5k thereabouts

Don’t bother with Dynaudio upgrade. For the price n effort, getting a custom setup with bigger speakers might be better?

The stock speakers aren’t too bad. Competed to all my previous car’s stock speakers hahaha

Hi,

I did mention the price (indirectly) for AID in one of my replies,

https://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2701166-passat-b8/page-20?do=findComment&comment=6528488

Quoted price from VAG and Jimmy CBX about the same. Someone obtained a quote from Elebest. The rate is half of VAG & Jimmy CBX so I was skeptical if the parts are original and if they could do a good job.

Tried to google for reviews. It seems that EleBest's specialisation is Mercedes.

Hope this answers your query.

Yep, thought the stock speakers were decent. Just wondering how much difference with the upgrade. Especially if I'm gonna do the AID or reverse cam.

Coming to a year; about time to make the choice.

My personal thoughts after installing AID + reverse camera for 11 days.

You can actually skip these 2 equipment. Good to have but not necessary. The default parking system with 2D image is good enough. Given a choice to pick only 1 of these equipment, I will choose reverse camera. It is useful as it gives you a visual, and when you park at lots with only curbs and no obstacles behind, the reverse sensors will not kick in.

For AID, it gives you the chio factor, especially if you have Discover Pro 2. I have not tried if google maps will appear in AID as I do not carry lightning cable in my car. Apart from that, it gives you a limited customisable views.

The video clip below gives you a rough idea of AID. As mentioned, I do not have Discover Pro 2 so navigation option is not there. And features that does not come with comfortline (e.g. driver assistance).

My priority would be the practical stuff like the reverse cam and battery for the in-car DVR.

AID looks nice and if it's full features can be adopted, it would be a nice addition.

I would like to ask about TPMS sensor. It is required for winter wheelset? I don't drive so much in winter, but I don't know if I see error if I drive without sensor.

TPMS should be independent of the winter tyres setting. The latter only gives the option to provide a warning when you drive above a pre-determined speed, ie. 30km/h.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System watches for imbalanced tyre pressures based on your confirmed settings after you've pumped them. I don't get any alerts on this though. And I only check my tyre pressure levels monthly.

Hi guys! For the ambient lighting package, does the light extend to your dashboard? Can you change the colour?

Not sure if there's a separate package for the ambient lighting, but my basic model comes only with white illumination level control. No colours whatsoever.
