Honda Vezel - Part 3

Why is that I've noticed so many Vezel drivers thinking they are driving some sort of sports car weaving in and out of traffic or thinking they are driving some kind of big "SUV"?

Is it because of sheer probability due to the numbers on the road?

I observed it as well... might be a numbers thing but I don't think so... there're also a large number of Nissan Qashqai on the road and that car has a 1.2 turbo which makes for a nice takeoff from standstill... but I don't see those drivers weave around like they're driving a formula one race... I think it's the mentality of driving a Honda with the VTEC engine perhaps... I have honked at so many of these Vezel drivers that I've lost count... suddenly cutting into the rightmost lane from the extreme left without signaling, tailgating even though I'm driving above the speed limit, straddling lanes just to take advantage of the next gap that appears to get ahead... and driving at insane speeds... estimated above 130 km/h perhaps even 150 km/h judging by how fast they disappear into the distance...

If weaving in and out at a decent speed, it is still ok coz not obstructing traffic behind. The worst are road hogs in the 1st and 2nd lanes on expressways, leaving a huge gap between the car in front. I find QQ1.2 drivers typical road hoggers, probably thinking that their bulky turtles are going very fast on the road.

This! My experience also...not once or twice either.

I'm not saying that everyone is like that...but of late, many Vezel drivers.

Then there's the PH cars! Don't get me started on those! Super taiko one those lot.  :a-confused:  :a-bang:

Private hire I can understand cos they aren't very experienced drivers... maybe after a few years this issue will go away...

So the same vezel i imported from japan to the caribbean, it seems though that the led fog lights were "pushed back" into the car to prevent theft. The problem with this now is that I can't seem to get it back up. Originally it came with some sort of silver foil sticky like paper as if the lights were "Stuck on". There is a sort of bracket on the end of the lights where screws can go but there is no where on the vehicle for this to screw on it. It seems like it cannot actually be bolted on.

The light actually does not fit through the finisher.

I'm wondering how to get these lights back up to look like this.

https://1drv.ms/f/s!AjGXVzekDHBblrB4MKiNN_PCiH6tVA

This is what the vehicle looked like before I imported it. the fog lights were in tact.

Thank you in advance for your assistance

My electrician scrapped out the fog lights... However, somehow, it seemed too big for the finisher. The light could not fit through. Again, we checked and there was no where for the lights to be bolted onto the vehicle/finisher.

When the vehicle arrive the lights seemed to be stuck on.

My electrician is very creative though and he made up a small bracket with some screws and bolted the light onto the back of the finisher.

I'm very happy with the end result. Looks very original.

Here you can see the mechanics with a small bracket, some screws and epoxy to hold it in place:

Finished product: (Not sure why the camera makes the lights look yellow, they are white lol)

Camera must've selected a warmer white balance, which would probably happen if the surrounding area was rather blue for whatever reason.

Where is the radar located in the 2016 Honda vezel w/ Honda sensing?

I know the camera is on the windscreen above the mirror. I looked inside the grll behind the H logo but I'm not seeing anything there.

anyone?

Vezel's City Brake Assist (or whatever it's called) should be using a LIDAR, last I checked, not a RADAR, like Ford/Volvo's Active City Stop/City Safety.

Such systems are typically mounted in the windscreen sensor module (where that camera you mention is and rain sensors usually would be).

LIDAR systems are usually somewhat shorter in range and have a different behavior in regards to accuracy which might explain the complaints about it activating at parking gates...

Thanks. There are two devices monunted on my windscreen.. The camera unit and the sensor for rain

The reason I ask is because the car does not seem to be detecting vehicles infront of me unless I am really/dangerously closed to them. I tried with ACC and even CMBS... I got ACC to work once or twice but it only detected the vehicle infront of me wheni was up on his bumper... As the vehicle pulled away, it lost focus.

CMBS does not detect a collision until I am seriously way too close

The vehicle reads road signs fine. LKAS works. Even when I'm in traffic and the car infront of me pulls off, I get the notification that the car in front is moving....

Its just ACC and CMBS are not working so good. I know the unit is in the car somewhere because it worked a couple times. I'm guessing the radar is dirty/misaligned

I'm not sure but I would like to locate it on the car... Not sure where it is

I've adjusted the settings on the dash but it doesn't seem to change anything

I wasn't aware of the Vezel being equipped with adaptive cruise control, so I had not assumed the car had a RADAR. If it's not behind the usual hiding spot of the badge, it might be behind a plastic shroud elsewhere in the front fascia.

CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System?) is probably set up to be very short ranged as with most similar systems to avoid the driver becoming reliant on it and to provide a small window for the driver's own reaction. But previously I was told that the Vezel does have a warning prior to actual autonomous braking.

May I know what trim your Vezel is? I didn't recall seeing any PIs bringing batches with a full Honda Sensing suite... I knew about the CTBA, but that was the most I ever saw in Vezels at the time. I do see SGCM lists a Honda Sensing variant now though.

edit:

this image suggests the radar is on/in the "platinum grille" piece that holds the Honda logo, but is not directly under the logo itself, rather to the side

「ミリ波レーダー」 means a millimeter wave RADAR.

I have a 2016 RU3 Honda Vezel Hybrid Z model w/ Honda Sensing

Thank you for the image.

This is the location of the radar.

Thanks for the image.

Will try and scrap off the grill and take a peek to see whats going on.

Just wondering anyone using bumper protector (top part of the bumper) to prevent scratches from loading and unloading stuff?

Nice...where did you get it and how much?....also, what is the material? Thanks.

Do you think they have for the 2017 CX5?

I took off the cover on top the grill by popping out the clips and the radar is clearly visible.

My radar was, as I thought, misaligned. It was angling too much downwards. There is an adjuster on the radar bracket that can tilt it up or down. I adjusted it with an allen key and raised the radar.

It now works perfectly tango_face_smile.png

Thanks again!

Does anyone hear a knock/clunk in their Vezel?

It happens at low speeds sometimes when i release my foot of the pedal or when i am brake at low speeds.

I saw a lot of HRV threads complaining about this and saying it was the back shock or the magic seat mechanism. I took out the shock and checked it; it was good. I even drove the vehicle without the shock and still heard it. I pulled the magic seats down and still heard the noise.

I'm really not sure where it is coming from. When I'm driving it sounds to me like it's coming from the right rear of the vehicle. I had my mechanic sit in the back and he said no it's coming from the front.

Then he drove the vehicle and I sat in the back and I was really confused as to where it was coming from?

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
