Jeffrey 1st Gear February 18, 2020 Share February 18, 2020 Those who want to know more about the differences between the Q3 std and Q3 sportback, can take a look at this video clip below; do note d slight differences between Europe and Asia (eg our Q3 has 1.4L engine while Europe has 1.5L) ↡ Advertisement

It's the most detailed and comprehensive review I have watched; very useful to parties who are considering buying the Q3. I think it is also useful for new owners. It is UK specific. The first half is interesting as it covers the car design and features and also compares against other premium suvs in its class. The 2nd half talks mainly on the different models and their options. And the last sector is of interest too as it talks on safety features. The closing summary is pretty good too. Finally had a chance to watch this full review. Good and complete summary and I like how he does the comparisons in different terms. Amazing that in other markets like UK and US the price difference between competitors can be only a few thousand and option packages also not too crazy. If all the models were only separated by a small margin, I would personally go for XC40 (I love Volvo seats). Here in SG though, I can say that Q3 is really a value leader in terms of luxury compact SUV. For the price, size and features I can't think of any other competitor and I was cross shopping against Mazda. I expect these will become extremely popular similar to how the A3 has really no competition at the price and features but getting very old now. Just last weekend I saw 3 more "in the wild". Some things like TPMS, the full chrome grille and additional USB ports I really feel are pretty cheapo to exclude in SG , but we also get a higher spec in other areas (VC and MMI) than is standard in other markets so I guess can't expect everything.
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 18, 2020 Share February 18, 2020 By the way, does the Q3 come with keyless entry and push button start/stop (keyless)? I have been assuming several items as standard, so never checked - eg TPMS.

I have been assuming several items as standard, so never checked - eg TPMS. Keyless entry yes (I think they call it comfort key). Push button stop/start yes. Also have the "kick to open boot". What it doesn't have, which I find surprising, is auto stop/start. I am actually happy not to have it. I hated it in my A200. I've read that it actually puts a lot more wear on the engine and drivetrain so anything towards reliability is good. I think they used the same logic when selecting the 1.4L and the 6-speed wet clutch as opposed to the 7-speed. All decisions to help with reliability (hopefully). Yes, I hate the stop/start feature too, and it is the 1st thing I switch off once the engine is on.
Chloee Neutral Newbie February 19, 2020 Share February 19, 2020 Gotten mine today from Audi. Was trying to register mmi when the app kept saying session expired. Tried the website, manage to get in. But when I keyed in VIN number, it’s says transfer data error 🤦🏻♀️ Anyone got this prob? And what is the plastic flap just right below passenger seat for? Seems like a bracket but don’t know what’s that for 😅

Other cars usually have this in a slot inside the glove compartment; Audi does it differently.

You need the number under the scratch off area on the plastic tag the SE gave you with the keys. I did it, but don’t see much benefit. The flap fits the manual just nicely.

Call the service center and got it rectified. Basically they have to delete some stuff from backend for me. Well, good thing its solved, but now apple carplay is driving me nuts. Phone and siri is link to mmi but the screen jus doesnt display the apple carplay screen 😪 Guess I gotta play with it for a while to get use to it. Jeffrey 1st Gear February 22, 2020 Share February 22, 2020 A just released comparison between Q3, X1 and Mazda's CX30 done down under. Interesting; you can draw your own conclusions (i.e. if you are unbiased - Ha! Ha!)
Acezz Neutral Newbie February 22, 2020 Share February 22, 2020 Anyone know how much the best price you can get for the Q3 at showroom now? Still can get at arnd motorshow price?

Interesting; you can draw your own conclusions (i.e. if you are unbiased - Ha! Ha!) Thanks for sharing. Interesting how each market’s pricing strategy affects things. I cross-shopped CX30 and previously tested the GLA. Never tried the X1 as I’m not a BMW fan. I prefer the CX30 exterior styling and handling, but to get a comparable model to the Q3, you need to select the top model which is only 12-15k less than the Q3 at motorshow pricing. The wait was also until end April/May for the combo I wanted. In terms of content, the CX30 top spec is really fully loaded with tons of safety equipment, sunroof, memory seats, Bose that the base Q3 doesn’t have, but the Q3 is much larger in terms of space and the virtual cockpit + large MMI are more attractive. My wife also preferred the badge and the lower road tax. Q3 despite the smaller engine has better performance although in city driving I quite liked the NA 2L. If the CX30 was 20-30k cheaper I’d probably pick that, although if the Volvo XC40 was 20-30k cheaper I’d pick that over the Audi for the seats alone. The CX30 seating position is also more like a crossover whereas the Q3 is more SUV with higher position. If you’re not looking for a lot of space and don’t care about the badge the CX30 maybe a better buy. The GLA is tiny, low seating position, super stiff suspension and terrible seats but is soon to be replaced so maybe all this will be solved. I’m currently on a road trip to KL via Malacca. Happy to note the MMI GPS and traffic avoidance routing working perfectly up north. The 1.4 which I find is very suitable to SG city driving does feel a bit weak on the NS highway compared to my previous merc A200, but the 17s are very comfortable on Malaysia’s notoriously lousy roads. Although I do feel the wheels look kind of sad, they are really comfy so far. More wind noise than I was expecting. Cruise control is easy to use.
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 22, 2020 Share February 22, 2020 Wow, your Q3 is only a couple of weeks old, and you are already doing a lot of highway driving with it. A good test of its quality build and reliability - given the different types of road conditions you will be going through in Msia. Thanks for the largely positive feedback; not surprising for a small capacity engine to run out of breath quickly. Re the 3 cars comparison, my own feeling is once you have owned a turbo car, its kind of difficult to go back to a NA engine. The high torque at low rpm is addictive! Safe drive home!
Jeffrey 1st Gear February 23, 2020 Share February 23, 2020 Can someone who have received his new Q3 confirmed that the car has a preinstalled embedded Sim card for Audi Connect that is a wifi hotspot and also allows internet connectivity. Understand it is a free subscription - for how many years? ↡ Advertisement
