I think whatever saf does surely there will be critics....so why should they even bother? They will just do first. Think later. So many times it had happened.

Here are some rules i follow during my NSF days, there are personal experience and hope they can help NSF to avoid any form of tragedy and mishap. The recent case of Dave Lee saddens me. While I love my country, i hate seeing fellow Singaporeans die for because of negligence.

 

TL;DR : Be a tough nut to crack. They must think twice before picking on you.

 

Its really unfortunate that NSFs even lose their lives or face trama during their service when its not their fault, its saddening when i see news like that.. I hope my experience and story can save a troubled NSF from unnecessary bullying and injustice. For the record, i aint some chao geng soldier who down Pes. PES B combat fit commander and still taking IPPT after i ORD.

 

 

There are many out there who secretly want to chill in their 2 years but have no guts to do so. And when someone did manage to have a break, they will shame them saying they are chao geng wayang but they yearn for it but afraid of controversy yet they cant do anything to you but to cry foul . Some be like "DUDE, dont chao geng and sabo the rest la" Then next day MC lol. Ultimately, this is to help NSF who are facing pressure and injustice in their unit, stand up for yourself and do it smart

 

What to do if you have a sadist sergeant/officer ? For 1 year 3 months, I have superiors who are constantly trying to pick on me. Here are some points for reference.

 

 

1. Secretly screw things up for them. If higher authority ask you to do something you hate, you dont show u hate it but do it horribly so the chances of him asking u do that again is reduced. U give “your best” and do it bad, he has do re-do so its double work for him so he will assign someone else in the future. But u dont want to show that u hate it because he might want to make things difficult for you by purposely asking u to do it. If u do well = u do that in the future.

 

 

2. Let them know you are a tough nut to crack. First u jump the chain of command and go straight to OC if u felt something amiss unless u felt the direct superior can help u. U will get punish for jumping the COC its ok. Next u call mindef to report. So they will know the person who complain u but they have no proof. Yes, they will make things hard for u but it won't cross the line, if not u repeat. Remember, they play u, u play their career.

 

3. Never be overly apologetic. If sergrent or PS or CSM scold u,. Never feel overly sorry and apologize because sometimes they more apologize the more they will punish u. U apologize means u admit u are wrong means they will punish u. Even if u did wrong, give a blank face and keep quiet.

 

4. Just take MC on Sunday, once a month only. 2 days MC. . If u cant fake a flu, say u are stress, family issues, suicidal thoughts, heart beat v fast, voices in your head. Change doctor every month. Rotate 4-5 doctors. Same excuses

 

5. Just take MC. Some units have performance off means if you are a good soldier for the month u get 1 day or half a day off. So u just chill and end of the month take 2 days mc and u still earn 1 day free

 

6. Dont be rude to the big boss. Unless OC or 2IC is a dickhead, find the big boss who is understanding and lean on them for support. Don`t suck their balls, just make it clear u respect them because they are more understanding. The bigger the boss, the more they hate their balls to be licked

 

7. Dont fall out, be the second last to finish. If u keep falling out, its not good for the section and the commanders will pick on u. Even if you u can run, can do fast march, just chill only. find the last guy and finish before him. Dont be the last and drag everyone down also.

 

8. Be the first only if big bosses are watching. If OC or 2IC ask u to do something, give your ultimate best and extra enthusiastic so as to leave a strong impression for them, in the future, its easier to lean on for support. This is to send the big boss a message “I am an excellent soldier and willing to do work just that my direct commander does not deserve my best so I only give to those who i respect”

 

9. Be a negative influence in a positive way. Find your own kind, encourage them to take MC, rotate your MC then cover for each other. Encourage them to go slow, do things that they secretly want to do but dare to voice out. U did not drag the team down, u just convince them its not worth doing certain things.

 

10. Always dress sharp. Neatly folded Smart 4, tight boots and head dress and stand straight. OC and 2IC will never suspect a well dress soldier is a problematic one as the sergeant or PS suggest. A sloppy uniform indicates a sloppy soldier. You want to appear to be smart and sharp but you are a MC, lam nua, keng king.
