inlinesix Hypersonic October 26, 2018 Author Share October 26, 2018 (edited) If things aren't banned in the past like firecrackers and chewing gums, we won't have advanced to a successful country like now. If everyone can be so programmed, we don't need police, enforcement forces, etc. We rather use the resources to improve something else more important than creating more problems with such nuisances that has been creating insecurity and mess on the streets. That is the real backwards situation we are in. It doesn't take a need to have these nuisances knock into you while walking or burnt down your house in which you can see that so many have suffered with these consequences. You are absolutely wrong. Go and see Shanghai for yourself. Ppl in Shanghai is so much more civilminded than we are. We were successful 5 years ago. When we were small, Ah gong never teach. Only ban here ban there. When we are big, simi pattern also come out liso. Of course waste resources la. Edited October 26, 2018 by Davidtch

When the old guards teach, people say they hold the reins too tight. When they don't teach, you complain that they don't educate people. Ban is one aspect that educate people, be it how ones sees it? Or do you want to volunteer to be the next victim of being knock down by these nuisances, or have your house burnt, as an example to educate more of the people out there of these nuisances? If Shanghai is as great as you said, why don't you stay there instead of coming back? I have some China friends. Shanghai is fast becoming better than it was, but there are still good and bad examples of people existing there.
Volvobrick Supersonic October 26, 2018 Share October 26, 2018 Actually I don't get it. Many of these bike sharing/e-scooter sharing companies like to use Singapore as the "launch country" before moving to Msia and other countries in this region. In my mind, I always thought that Singapore is the worst choice for these business because - Market is small, hence re-distribution of the bicycles/e-scooters is not efficient - Land is restricted, hence infrastructure for such commuting is limited - Regulations are more than other countries - Population is generally quite well off financially, they can afford public transport quite easily. So why always use Singapore as the first country of choice is quite puzzling. Easier here to cheat the 70% sheep to put down cash deposits mah.... The company had announced on Tuesday (Oct 23) it planned to roll out its rental personal mobility devices (PMD) here "within the next few weeks", having raised US$6.4 million (S$8.8 million) in funding from investors. However, in a statement on Wednesday evening, the LTA said: "We would like to remind all interested companies that it is an offence to operate a device-sharing service at public places without a licence." It noted licence application exercises are conducted twice a year, with the next in January next year open to PMD-sharing services such as Beam. The licence places a cap on the number of devices a firm is allowed to operate here, and requires these firms to take measures to curb indiscriminate parking. Unlicensed operators can be fined up to $10,000 and jailed for up to six months, with a further fine of $500 for each day it continues to operate after conviction. The Straits Times understands that while there are other e-scooter sharing services here - such as Telepod and Neuron Mobility - these firms have partnered with property owners to offer their services within the boundaries of these properties, thus exempting them from these regulations. The LTA added that, as with other firms interested in offering PMD-sharing services, it had invited Beam to an "engagement session" to share its plans. In response to the LTA's statement, Beam's corporate affairs vice-president Christopher Hilton said: "Although Beam has not yet launched in Singapore we have already communicated to the LTA we intend to comply fully with the Parking Places Act when we launch and we look forward to working closely with the LTA to bring greater mobility options to Singapore." @dach quickly go and feedback. :XD:

After so many years still need this sign shows failure. Then probe and think further of the reasons to ban them. There will always be people who look beyond the loop holes and try to play out of the boundaries. Recent example is one idiot went putting a trailer behind the PMD. The situation is becoming more uncontrollable. You can protect yourself, doesn't mean the less vulnerable can, neither that the other party will retaliate back. Spare a thought for others, especially those who have already been hurt from these nuisances. ↡ Advertisement
