  1. Have anyone tried box storage? It is cheaper than self storage and I like the idea of they come and collect the items from me. CNY coming, want to clear some items at home. Lai, those who tried before share your experience please! Spaceship https://www.spaceship.com.sg/ Beam https://www.beamspace.com/sg
  2. Hyundai Avante & Kia Cerato Forte, both are using the same platform, same engine, and same steering system. If I am not wrong the suspension system is the same too with macpherson struts in front and telescopic with springs at the rear. However, the Avante is using multi-link as a rear axle whereas the Forte is torsion beam. We know that torsion beam are a cheaper way to manufacture cars and wishbone or multilink is better in terms of performance and ride comfort. Can the pros and gurus here shed some light on axle designs, which is better and in what terms are they better? Torsion beam rear axle: Toyota Altis, Vios, Estima Chevrolet Aveo Kia Cerato Forte Mazda 2 Mitsubishi Lancer EX Multi-Link/Independant wishbone: Honda Civic FD, CRV Hyundai Avante Mazda 3, 6 Mitsubishi Lancer CS3

  4. Everyone knows how annoying it is to have somebody behind you with his high beam on. It blinds you, forcing you to focus your attention elsewhere especially when traffic is at a stop. When its dark, it screws your night vision, especially if you need to check your side mirrors to filter. This evening around 6+, as i was reaching home, one car came up behind me with his high beam on. We stopped at a red light, and i decided to try something. I flicked off my lights (it was before 7pm, i only had position + tail lights on, so it was only one flick) and back on. To my surprise, it immediately registered with the driver behind what i meant, and he turned off his high beam. Guess he prolly didnt realise he had high beam on, since there are still a fair amount of daylight left. So i just gave a friendly wave to say thanks. I donno if this trick has been used successfully by others before. It was i think my 3rd or 4th time trying it and it worked for the first time. Hopefully others can see if it works for them. But a few safety tips a) Dont try this when both yourself and the car behind are in motion! If you totally switch off your lights in the dark, the car behind will be wondering what you are doing, and so will the cars in front and beside you. This will only create a more dangerous hazard. Only try this at a perfect stop (i.e. junction red light) or really slow moving traffic. b) This will apply more for cases where the driver behind may not be aware that his high beam is on. Some drivers for example do not own the car they are driving at the moment (family car, rental), so they may not realise it. In my case, he came out out of a carpark while there was still a bit of light, so he may have started his journey not knowing his high beam was on. c) If the driver responds and realises what you are trying to signal, give a friendly wave. This ensures it will register in his mind to check to make sure his headbeam isnt on when he switches on his headlights.
  5. Don't we all have this experience at night when some Cars are driving behind you with HIGH Beam on ? My friend say he raise his Rear View Mirror up to reflect back his "Light" but I think base on the angle, its not possible... How do you signal them to switch it to normal ? Suggestions and Solutions please...
  6. can the headlight beam angle be adjusted (lower or higher), as i noticed mine is "shooting" very low to the ground. noticed there is a screw, with teeths around its edge, on the headlight unit, is this for adjusting the angle? btw, i'm driving a AE111. thanks.
  7. A while ago I was traveling at CTE. Traffic very good, not much car. I was at extreme left. I do all my signal as usual. I don't anyhow change lane. Travel at 80km/hr Out of no where, a MPV from behind me 4 car length hi-beam me for nothing. Thinking maybe he accidentally hi-beamed me. So I carry on driving. Next he hi-beam 2 times continuously. After 5 sec again and again. While he hi beam, he still 4 car length away from me. I start to get angry and at the same time telling myself to cool down. A few sec later I'm able to cool down and carry on my journey. That MPV again, hi-beam like drinking water. I'm glad that I exit Moulmein staying clear away from that "SIAO driver". After I parked my car I go behind my car see if got anything wrong with my car. But find nothing, even I try to recall back my journey, I find nothing wrong. Look back at my car video looks normal to me. Still, puzzle with what's wrong with him...

  9. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. Met this Hyundai Avante from yishun going to CTE, with his high beam on the way. It was so bad that even after flipping down my anti-glare rear mirror, his head lights are still super powerful, much more powerful then those big vehicles! really lighting the entire road up. Noticed a young guy behind the wheels after he overtook me. So most likely is forget to turn off. & I wonder, technically speaking, is this consider as road hazard or not.. haha..
  10. Thinking of upgrading my stock head lights. Upper beam bulbs are 65W H9. Cant seem to find this substitute from Osram Night Breaker Plus. Lower beams are 55W H1 and Fog are 51W HB4. My car is Mit Grandis. Read somewhere H11 can be use for H9? But H11 only 55W while H9 is 65W.
  11. Just wondering, have you ever high beam or give a longgg horn (not those short tap horn) @ government vehicles (ie. Police car, Traffic police, ambulance, army SUV, etc) while driving on the road? If you do, then why? Is it against the law to high beam them?
  12. Got tailgate and high beam early in the morning at MCP for travelling at 20kph with 3 more ramps to go, what is the rush when I will still meet you at the exit of the MCP or alley, so many cars are exiting at the same time... IRRC, MCP have a speed limit of 15kph and there are alot of ppl walking towards their car.
  13. Have you noticed many taxis drive at night with one of the headlights permanently in high beam??....maybe the driver is using this to irritate the drivers in front to give way?? This can be very distracting to other drivers.... including the ones in front, the ones in the opposite direction.... Take down the numbers of such taxis, compile a list and send it to LTA, ask them to call up the owners for inspection?? Or let the taxi overtake, then follow him with our own highbeam in full blast behind him??
  14. today almost kanna blinded by the high-beam light of one van on the road today. Singapore road is brightly lighted up by street light i wonder y pple still turn on their high-beam when driving
  15. Yesterday almost hit Malaysian lorry. Travelling at 60, he was parked behind yet another stationary veh so he had to cut into second lane to get out. He turned abit, and I had no intention of stopping, so I flashed high beam. He continued turning out instead! I had to e brake and stopped half a metre in front of him. His lorry was adjacent then, and he showed me the 'what you want' look and hand sign. I doubt he would be pondering on the incident, but I do. Does high beam by any chance mean I'm giving way to you in Malaysia or other countries?
  16. So much so that i cant even see the front clearly due to their high beam glaring in my eyes reflected by my mirrors. Damn irritating.
  17. [inline DangerousDriver.jpg] Was driving home on PIE to Tampines with my wife after her discharge from SGH 1 day stay. It was about 1925hrs on 20 Mar 2008. Encountered this Red Kia Picanto after Eunos Flyover towards Tampines on the PIE. I was actually behind a yellow cab and the Kia Picanto was about the 3rd car infront of the cab. And all of us were on 1st lane. Noticed that the speed was only about 90km/h to 95km/h only. Then notice 2 cars in front of me (including a really fast toyota altis) overtaking the picanto on the 2nd lane...so realised the the picanto was the culprit road hogger. I then had no choice as I saw a bmw 7 series following me pretty close behind and I can't overtake on the 2nd lane as by the path is not avail. I had no choice by approach cautiously behind the picanto closer and gave him a short 2 high beam warning. The idiot did't move. The bmw the gave me a 1 short high beam too...stressed...so I decided to give a slight long high beam and a slight tap on my stebal magnum as I know it is pretty loud...and the bloddy f ker still dont move to lane 2 even though he could as by then we had space and we were already past tampines south flyover...(imagine he road hog for so long) He then tried to brake fast twice and lucky I was not behind him too close....I then deiced then this is a lunatic and then had no choice by to do a not advisavle overtaking on the left on lane 2. As I pass beside him, he then held his horn and so I replied on my stebel. I wanted to exit at TPE loyang flyover but I then noticed this f ker then stalked behind me and turn on his high beam on. He blinded my vision on my rear mirror and I had no use of it. So I decided to take a quick exit at simei flyove and still he followed dangerously. I know he did't want to use this route as I can see that he made a dangerous cut thought the white split divider just to follow me behind and he even force a car and lorry to give way to him just to continue his stalking with high beam. We then turn right onto Tamp Ave 2 and I told my wife that I will drive straight to the nearest police post if he continues his nonsence....and he did. We were just at the juction outside Tamp East CC we were on lane 1 that waiting on red and to turn into St 32. I got so pissed off walk out of my car and went to snap this pic with my phone, then went back into by car....just in time, the traffic turn green and I turn into st 32 but I notice then he did not continue to stalk me with his high beam as he did not followed into st 32 however he left a short soft noise from his horn behind me as I move away. Just because he has many turbo/oil pressure/temp guages on his "fast and furious" car does not means that he has the right to road hog and then turn "semi-pro" ah beng to other who "ask" him to siam...and why the f k you are driving with your fog lights too on a clear night? Isn't you f king high beam bright enough? So my fellow MCF bro and sis...be very careful with this f ker. I am so pissed off but because of my wife poor health condition that I and putting this matter just on MCF so that this fellow can learn his lesson OR ELSE I will send this matter to my good neighbour TP for help liao.
  18. dunno what to say, noticed that many drivers esp. ladies, aunties, and those p platers, drive super slow and then turn on high beam and every single mother light in their car including fog lights and then drive at a super slow speed. the moment you ut in front of them, you see the high beam right in your eyes. as usual, i just go behind them and turn on my high beam and slowly follow them as far as i can, keeping a 4-5 car distance to let them enjoy. why so selfish? light up the whole damn car like christmas tree, drive so slow. dun you ppl find it so common nowadays? dun wanna start about those taxi drivers who purposely adjust their lights so 1 side high beam, the other side dipped. all these selfish cbs.
  19. Hi, Does anyone know any workshop has the machine to do the headlight alinement? went inspection last month and was told that the beam are too high. advise???? thanks
  20. Hi, newbee here, just wondering if I need to use the high beam light when traveling at night in SG. place such as TPE, lentor ave... I did not use this after collecting the new car. however, sometime I feel the oncoming light is so strong, it make me can't see clearly. Thanks
  21. Did anyone realise that lots of drivers and riders like to high beam nowadays? and not accidentally turn on the high beam by mistake. Everyday sure will see some joker turn on high beam from the bak and no, not HID. Can see clearly is a high beam. And no, not misaligned bulb where one looks like high beam and the other is dipped. All suka suka turn on high beam for normal driving. Bikes also join in. In the day, if turn on high beam as advisedby some professionals, its ok. night also turn on the damn high beam. basically riding about in high beam. what can i do? filter left, get behind them if i have the time and high beam shiok shiok for as long as time permits me lor. nothing gained except the priceless satisfaction of returning them the favour. do free christmas light up for their cabin. is it me only or is it you guys that notice this as well? and no, i;m not driving some low slung coupe. its a cheap and high suv leh. how can anyone say high beam by mistake?
  22. damn pissed off. are they particularly aiming me because i'm a p-plater or just leaving it all the way ? what for ?
