Anyone been to TAS or OAM before? Will tickets be available easily at the door? Any show merchandise available? Will it be as crowded as local IT/PC shows?

I've only been to Tokyo Motor Show (stock cars) which is kinda different from Tokyo Auto Salon (tuner brands, aftermarket, modified parts, accessories, TRD, GazooRacing, HKS, Yaris, Modellista, Nismo, Mugen, Spoon, Top Secret, etc). Definitely got merchandise like caps, t-shirts. It should be very crowded. But with the cultured Japanese, no worries man.

I mean show merchandise like TAS 2020 stuffs. Am sure the exhibitors will sell their products in their respective booths.

just nice this year’s Tokyo trip coincides with tas date.

Yes tickets will be available at the door but you will need to join the general admissions Q where ppl start q-ing 1-2hrs before it opens for public on Friday after noon. Friday mornings are for press, invited guests and special tickets holders. It will take you around 45mins to 2hr by train to travel from Tokyo city. Try to time for the express train which will cut down travel time and make your commute more enjoyable.

Will it be as crowded as TAS? Yes. Esp if some sexy girls come out, you will kenna swarm. But the event is huge so you can always find some pockets of space to chill.

The size of the show is easily more than 3-4x our IT shows. You will not be able to cover it in 1 day, even 2 entire days I also cannot walk finish. Imagine the entire singpaore expo is 1 exhibition, including all the extra halls opposite, that is still smaller than TAS. There will also be outdoor exhibits featuring some driving performances, usually drift and exhitibiton drives. Sometimes if you are lucky, you will get a sticker if you manage to talk to the ppl at the exhibits.

Every year will also have a particularly popular car, this year confirm is Supra.

There will be official TAS merch you can BUY (in addition to all the other merch sold by individual brands) usually is right outside the main hall entrances. This year is collab with Helllo Kitty. Quite cute.

All other helpful info compiled for you here:

If you are hunting for anything special in particular, go early as the good stuff get bought quickly.

Otherwise, just go and enjoy, it's a real eye opening experience for all car nerds. Have fun!

If can, help me get hello kitty tas sticker 😛

Hav fun. Here's this year layout. U can agar agar the scale and plan how you want to walk. I usually start left to right, over 2 days. 1st day cover 8,7,6,5,4 (maybe 3). Then day 2 cover 3,2,1, 9,10, 11 and maybe some of the outdoor areas.
