Is a Hyundai Elantra 2011 MD. Don't think will drive this car beyond 15 years so renew with a 5 years COE good enough.

Your PARF write off is only 7+k, it makes a lot of sense to renew COE. If you  renew 5 year, your parf write off is only 1.5k per year. But will be better  if you can do 10 year, it gives you the flexibility of dropping it anytime, for example  in case COE is high on year 5, you can stretch the car a bit longer or even continue to drive on.

The other advantage is if you have been maintaining it,  you dont have to worry about major repair after renewing COE, this is a very good advantage comparing with one has to  buy a COE car which is higher price and yet not knowing the history of the car.

WIll survive another 10 years de! My French car, I also renewed for 10 years.

This type of NA engine, old fashion transmission is way reliable than current small turbo-charged engine and don't shift gearbox.

10 years renewal no brainer

Wa seh, really power...

Honestly speaking, for me I think if renew 10year COE I gotta go for a loan somehow already.

Only if it's 5-year renewal then I can still afford with my "surplus" cash - and by surplus I mean even if the very next day I lost it all I wouldn't have to go jump off building and still can continue with my life. And this surplus is not "savings" kind of money, but really extra cash that I can lose and not bat an eyelid...

Taking into account your spare cash, just renew 5yrs COE. You can recover the COE rebate anytime within the next 5yrs, only loss your PARF.

I have a Feb'12 C180K (mileage 58K only) due next year, will most likely renew 10years COE, just hoping CAT A pqp will remain at current level, don't think can see the $30K+ pqp range in near future

Prior to this, I had a pre-owned 2015 model C180 W205 which I loss close to $50K (incl high loan interest $14k) after driving it for close to 2yrs. Driving a COE car would be more prudent

Was surprised nowadays youngster quite prudent, my colleague commented his son making $4K salary can amass $70K+ over few years after Uni to buy a brand new Elantra 3yrs ago in cash.
