not sure if the below information still applies, IIRC

if you apply through grab, instead of direct LTA, they will cover for your medical/registrations fees

I have full time employment with monthly CPF contributions. OA/SA/MA

Do I still have to top up my MA when its time to renew my TDVL?

As long as you have monthly contribution then no need even you hold TVL.

Thanks - this is useful reference.

So if i summarise to see if i got it correct:

To get the PVDL/TVDL, need:

  1. apply through LTA/License portal with softcopy photo - $40
  2. wait ~2 weeks, LTA inform application approved, take letter go for Medical/chest x-ray - $50
  3. sign up for coures - ~$200 but fully claimable from skillfuture
  4. renewal of license every ~3 yr, ~$40.

So if the first/initial investment is ~$90, can last 3 years, then each year if petrol savings is ~$30, that will be worth it.

if got 7% more discount, then if every month I pump $250, the savings would be $17.50 per month, and will be $210 per year.

Even if is only 3.5% additional discount, half of it will be ~$100 a year.

Looks like worth it right?

Anyone see any obvious error in my thoughts/calculations?

Of course, the fundamental thing is that the petrol companies must continue to offer the additional discounts, then this will be meaningful...

The only mistake i see is

3. sign up for courses,   full course is $294. but text book not claimable but able to claim course $200, 3 x exam paper (10+5)

Thus you need add $50 for course books, (some map and study materials)

Thus initial investment is 40 + 50 + 50.  = $140.

Renewal of licence at every 3 years is $40.

Refresh of taxi licence is at every 6 years, is $50 (skill future claimable too), i am not sure about medical checkup require or not.

Hey guys, i do have a question too. I am 31 years old this, Self-employed and hold a currently expired PDVL that has been expired for more than 6 months but less than 3 years.

Expired in Jan of 2021. I went down to LTA for my late renewal payment appointment already and now awaiting LTA to send me letter of approval and also any requirements if needed.

I understand on the Medisave Contribution end, however i do have a question, as mine is based on renewal, and i have yet to recieve any outcome from LTA, would i be required to go for a medical check up even though i am 31 years of age and renewing my license?
