Spidey10 Supercharged June 5, 2023 Share June 5, 2023 Max (or RBR) is still untouchable...haahha...look how fast Perez came close to GR in the last few laps when he was told no need to preserve the tires anymore. All-out attack. But too late...if there were a more laps.... then again, if he attack hard could his tires hold out? Merc is back or LH is back....i have not seen him smile so so happily in this new era....u can see in the eyes...even during Quali, his face was not showing any despair but was beaming with a smug smile during the post interview.... I think he knows the car is back and is a matter of time they squeeze all the juice out of it...u just look at his eyes during the interview, u know he is not worried, even he didn't get the front row...he knows he can reel them in. hence Mad Max came out to say for the 1st time, they need to work harder now.....hahhaha anyway...if we can throw all 4 teams (F, AM, Merc and Mc) to chase RBR for the wins, it would be awesome to watch... My take....the beginning of a resurgent Merc and Lulu...
serenade 6th Gear June 5, 2023 Share June 5, 2023 I am a F1 fan since the days of Jim Clark racing John Surtees in their petrol bomb of cars. Going at insane speeds in cars with no aerodynamics, on skinny tyres and on circuits with no armco and plenty of trees. Those men, till the time of Schumacher had balls of steel. The racing was pure sans electronics, cars between teams were differently built, the racing was competitive with very brave drivers making overtakes at unlikely places (Mansell/Senna/Hunt/Schumi). I do not watch the races where technology wins races. The car, tyre strategy and race strategy is more important than the driver. 2023 is a terrible season to watch when RBR has a car that is far superior to anyone else's. Almost a second a lap faster in qualifying trim in Spain. RedBll procession once they hit the front. I now watch MotoGP and SBK which is like F1 in days of old. The racing is more pure. No electronics, no radio, riders dicing inches apart at 300km/h protected by just their racing suits. Racing is very close with scary overtakes. Slow motion replays show the bikes sliding and the riders transferring their weight L/R/F/B to stabilise the bikes at every corner. Ducati is the fastest bike in 2023, but it takes the rider's skill to handle the power. A mistake by even the best rider and the bike tips into a skip into the gravel. Last night I watched SBK and French Open tennis over F1 when all three were on at the same time over Starhub.

Kinda agree....i am from MS days....those were also brilliant brilliant racing with pure driving skills....and the screaming growl from their V10 engines....ooohhlala. those were the days...Honda were in their prime with Williams...I remember my neighbor bought a Honda Civic and blah about the PGFI 16V engine from F1...blah blah blah and i was so captivated by that car...told myself, when i am older, i wanna get this car...hahhahah It goes to show how old we are now....old unker ... those days were MS, Montoya, Alanso and Kimi...fav was Kimi, followed his time when he was with Sauber... Then again, if without regulation....those big boys would have won already...they would have poured hundred of millions into development of their cars... serenade 6th Gear June 5, 2023 Share June 5, 2023 Agree. The ear splitting scream of those V10s coming down the straight was a thrilling sound. Matched only by the sound of an old Ferrari V12, coming down the straight. However, I am most awed by the sound coming from the full grid of 1970s F5000 open-wheelers when the flag drops. 5000cc push-rod, low-revving V8, producing 600bhp taken from the road cars. The ground literally shook when they took off. ↡ Advertisement
