Eh, he is saying it should be $20k cheaper by being in Cat A instead of B lah dey.

The EV SUV market here seems to have stratified into roughly above 4.7m go into Cat B* and below 4.7m into Cat A. If you have a smaller SUV in the below 4.7m range, hard to price in the 200s where people will go buy a 7X or G6 or Sealion 7 or Juniper instead.

Yes got a few exceptions like the perf ones and bloody Sealion 7 100kW (priced like Cat B anyway) but roughly there for most.

So what EVs can consider to buy for Cat A price around 180k le?

U ask me ah? I will probably choose MGS5 but dont ask me because I dont feel worth it for the 'small' COE difference to go Cat A.

Looks like MGS5 seems like not bad?!

Why not you choose BYD?

I did. But i bought Cat B as I said.

But if I had to choose Atto 3 vs MGS5, no fight. Confirm MGS5. Even Aion V above Atto 3.

My question is why should it be power nerfed into CAT A to make it competive when it's already cheaper than many CAT A models? You are already getting the CAT B performance and at a CAT A price. That's probably it's greatest value proposition. It might just attract the kind of buyers who want that.

If it was nerfed to fit into CAT A, then it would not stand out in the field at all and would simply be forced to compete on price.

Depends on what you value. Omoda E5 is the most price competitive now, Jaecoo J6 if you value style over everything else, or perhaps MG4EV.  Next bracket would be Aion Y Plus and V if you absolutely want the most space for your buck. With the Aion V offering better finish and features for just abit more. Proton Emas7 if you want the most power below 200k.

True, Aion V the spec and features are above atto3, but too bad this car not popular.

MGS5 i didn't go see look yet, so don't know how good.

I see Omoda 5 priced at 160k, don't know real or not even COE has went up so much?!

Jaecoo J6 design not bad, but the door handle no good. And the range for this car is short?

Seems like all the EVs you shortlisted don't have the best selling brand BYD. Lol.

You go and try, if you are in the market to buy a Cat A.

It really drives better than the rest of the pack. Besides the ride, looks and cabin (I like that you get a choice of colors unlike BYD), it somehow butt dynos faster than the rest of the Cat As to my butt.

Also has ability to do the BYD low regen as well as OPD. Choice is always good.

Because it ended up being at the top end of the Cat A price band, even though its lowest of the Cat B. So end up, people will, aiyah a bit more I get bigger Sealion 7, Juniper, even more HP and a bit more money.

Yes, I agree with you on the power vs value price. But you see how it sells, you will understand our weird market.

Waiting for Stellantis / Leapmotor to release their C10 SUV into Singapore. 😃 If in Cat A version becomes available, it's going to be very competitive against Emas7, Aion V, Atto 3, MG S5, Omoda E5, Tesla Model Y and Sealion 7.

Will be interested in what Cycle & Carriage (AD of Stellantis) will price the C10 and what version.

Should be coming out before end of 2025.

Competition is good for the consumer. More the merrier the saying goes...🤙

What you mean ability to do the BYD low regen and OPD?

But if MG reliability is good? And the brand is stable in long run?

For EV, i find even an entry level EV power also quite fast. So i don’t understand why need to buy a much more higher power EV le?

More power = good. 100kW to move near 2 ton car not enough for _some_ situations.

Means, MGS5 got wide range of setting. The lowest is very low regen like BYD, drive like ICE car. The highest setting, is OPD style like Tesla.

Reliability, no idea. Same as any other Chinese EV if you ask me.

Because I don't find BYD to be good value at this point in time. It carries a price premium over the other Chinese brands. At 180K you don't have much choices

Honestly in SG no real need. But some people might wanna cheong NSH. Also, it depends on the actual kerb weight. Those CAT A models below 1900kg do well with just 100kw and 250nm.

Anyway since this is the Aion V thread, time to steer the discussion back to the Aion V.

Have had my ride for 3 weeks now and I have to say I am enjoying it. Pickup is excellent, handling is pretty decent, though the steering feel is quite muted.

Efficiency is better than expected and I am achieving figures lower than the rated 17.2kwh/100km on every ride, even with my fridge in use. So it appears it can easily deliver 450+km of range in most conditions.

No wonder BYD EV so popular, due to they have very low regen.

Seems like MGS5 same as Aion V. Spec and features are good but car not popular.
