Hi... to the best of my knowledge (which is indeed limited [:p] )

(1) shouldn't cause any problem on your ECU - for Buddy Club, what happens is it sits between the engine and ECU for those areas it controls - so basically it takes over from the ECU - and such functions would be 'superceded'.

(2) if it is a piggy back, then your base ECU will remain intact - only full ECU replacements would require removal of ECU. But to be honest I am not that familiar with superchip - if it is one of those that overwrites the ECU program - then your ECU would no longer be stock. Not sure what would happen if you reset your ECU for superchip. For Buddy Club, am told the programming will remain intact even after an ECU reset (or battery disconnect). For those overwrite programs - dunno.

(3) the piggy back only overwrites the signals that it controls - other signals are not affected - so your airbag/brakes etc should be not touched.

Hope this helps.

hi bro....peisay peisay...but find ur discussion of piggyback very interesting....

but just one question and I hope you can enlighten me...if i go for piggyback...

i heard from somebody tt the ECU will recompensate itself and cause the piggyback to have no effect at all...is there such incident happening???....does it mean tt once the piggyback i set...it will not change liao???...eg due to power loss of some other events????...can pls advice....

Hiya....

On your question about the ECU recompensating - that should not be the case of a piggyback - because what the piggyback does is it sits between the engine and the ECU - effectively taking over the fuel mapping control (and in the case of the Buddy Club Racing Spec B - the auto shift point also). So whatever the ECU does in the end would not reach the engine anyway.

Some discussions are around more other bolt on devices, which changes the air volume into the engine. The ECU may sense more air and eventually adjusts to maintain the same fuel/air mix. Not an expert here, but more air/fuel sooner should still translate to more power ? It also depends on how much the ECU adjusts itself since there's also the trottle position it has to sense ?? Maybe some other ECU programming expert in the forum can comment here.

Most piggy-bags "hijack" the airlfow sensor signal and fool the ECU to to believe what it wants to do. Good tuners using dynos will give best results. Some newer piggy-bags can hijack the O2 sensors to prevent overriding by the ECU. [rolleyes]
