Hello to all the MCF Lao Chio...

Got some burning questions to ask... [bounce1]

I just sent my new car for my 1st servicing (1000KM), ask the guy who work there whether got any option to change to a 'better engine oil'. i dunno whether he got what i mean, anyway he told me only one type available [:(] which is the Mineral oil ( i think that's what he said... [dizzy] )

Yet i also got some friends who told me to change to the better one(sythatic?[confused] )

so what should i changed to? need some advice from all the experts out there man.... [gossip]

next servicing will be at 5000KM.

Could be an economy oil. Economy meaning 0W30 or 40. Gives better fuel economy. That's the problem with these 3-yr warranty stuff. They don't give you much of a choice.

The W doesn't really matter here. SG is summer all year round. So you can get rid of the W but you will pay more for a 0W. It pours better in winter. So to save money get a 5WXX.

Toyota or whatever doesn't matter. You must decide what you want to do for your car in the early stages now. Change religiously every 5k or every 2mths if you cover 400km per week. Or change to syn oil and have a change interval of 10-15k.

Also don't worry about "Toyota sludge". The problem has been ironed out long ago.

juz use mineral oil for the first three 5k service as there will be fine metallic particles from the engine. no need to waste money on synthetic oil if u change every 5k. after 15k, engine will be 'seasoned' and u can switch to synthetic and run for 10k between servicing.

yours a VIOS?

1k servicing - complimentary, use mineral oil

5k servicing - complimentary, can use either mineral or semi-syn oil

10k servicing onwards - not free, use fully syn oil (bring own oil cheaper)

can consider getting the AMSOIL 10w-40 from our MCF admin team for 10k, it's ok for me so far (left 4 quarts oni [:(] )

bros, i have a question for you too.

what about mixing the mineral & syn oil together??? For example, I have used up all my remaining syn oil during my servicing, checked my dip stick then realised that I am short-off about 500ml to 1 litre.

My mech told me to top-up using his mineral oil which was left off by his previous customer. I have no choice then but to use it.

What are the things I have to look out for??? Will this mixing cause damage to my car engine??? Will this also affect the fuel consumption????

Your advise please...

servicing costs is fixed by BM (you should have their brochure take a look)

servicing with mineral oil is cheaper than syn oil by abt $65

if u bring your own oil, deduct $13 from the mineral oil servicing prices, meaning you will save some $$$ if your syn oil is anything cheaper than $78

for 5k can stick with mineral oil or use semi-syn (not really necessary lah)
