Zees Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 Hi everyone.... this is my first posting and hopefully u guys can give me some advice. I'm from M'sia, driving a satria 1.3. The car comes with only the front anti-roll bar. Larger cc cars would have the rear anti-roll bar as well and it reduces the body roll alot. So would I benefit from the rear anti-roll bar since my car is only 1300cc, 3 door hatchback? I've installed the front strut bar and honestly I don't feel much difference. Thanks . Turbobrick Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 Hi Zees, Welcome to MCF! Ur from across the causeway? How U heard about MCF? Interesting to have M'sian member here Adding or upsizing anti-roll bars will have considerable improvements compared to strut bar. However, too much will change your cornering characteristics which may take some getting used to. Add the rear if U can source one, it'll help very much. Yongwd 1st Gear July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 having a rear anti roll bar, u will find the car rear will not squad that much when u launch off from traffic. Similarly it reduces body roll, better traction and confidence on high speed driving.
Zees Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Author Share July 31, 2002 Thanks Turbobrick . So I can conclude that small car will benefit from the rear anti-roll bar as well . I couldn't remember how I get to know MCF, it was about 2 months back when I first visited MCF. Well.... it is great forum site after all
Zees Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Author Share July 31, 2002 Thanks Shagmobil . Anyway is there any negative effect after the installation? I heard that the rear part of the car will be lifted up abit, right?
Yongwd 1st Gear July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 Lifted up? I dun think so.

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 Theoractically any car big or small will benefit from beefed up anti-roll bars, just sacrifice a little ride comfort that's all. Your rear won't lift up from anti-roll bars, probably with gas shocks yes.
Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie July 31, 2002 Share July 31, 2002 "I've installed the front strut bar and honestly I don't feel much difference." Hi! there, Zees, Welcome!! to MCF. Strut bars reduces the flexing of your car chassis, think of it as getting twisted. Anti-roll bars are more noticable in handling, when you go around a corner. Previously, my brother's friend installed front & rear anti-roll bars on his Alfa33, he can keep up with Porsches on the trunk roads, or should I say, the Porsches can keep up with him?? Similarly it reduces body roll, better traction and confidence on high speed driving. I think anti rolls doesn't prevent squatting when launching. Stiffer suspension do. It also affects the cornering stability only, so it should be 'confidence on high speed cornering'. Edited August 1, 2002 by Mikeckchong

Madarmour Neutral Newbie August 1, 2002 Share August 1, 2002 Theoractically any car big or small will benefit from beefed up anti-roll bars, just sacrifice a little ride comfort that's all. Your rear won't lift up from anti-roll bars, probably with gas shocks yes. Anti rolls affects the ride comfort only if one side hits a bump, as the shock will then transmit to the other side. With antirolls, the suspension is no more 'independent'. Can be quite unsettling when you hit a bump one side during mid corner at high speed. However, it rocks on the track! Madarmour Neutral Newbie August 1, 2002 Share August 1, 2002 Anti rolls are fitted at the bottom, outside the car. The bar you saw in the boot is the rear strut tower bar, which is similar to the front strut tower bar.
Magfocus 5th Gear August 1, 2002 Share August 1, 2002 Its still independent to a certain extent, depending on the stiffness and diameter of the anti roll bar. ↡ Advertisement
