Have not test driven the C5, however looking at the luxury options Adv is bringing in with the C5, it is sure one of those must look at.

 

Your car is pretty new, so emphasize on running in properly during the 1st 3K km so that it would give you good mileage downstream.

 

Is your auto fuzzy logic auto - or what they call they would learn the driving habits of the driver, and change the gear according to the driving style of the driver?

 

This type of auto tends to be a little jerky as they learn, will take sometime to learn and if your driving style is consistent, it will smoothen out quickly.

 

I am driving the Opel Zafira 1.8A, pretty smooth auto - the maker of the auto system is Japanese, which makes for some Jap and Conti makes.

They call it the auto adaptive gear box or something like that.

My C5 mileage is just above 5000KM now after 21/2 months on the road.

The car is getting less jerky now. Probably it has "learnt" my driving style.

 

Overall, I'm still satisfied with my C5 although little problems will come and bug you once in a while.

 

The current outstanding issues that I still have with Advance are

 

1) oil level indicator blinking

2) rattling from inside the car (both passenger and driver side)

 

I recently went for a seminar and I parked my car in the open air carpark. When I got back after the seminar, I was surprised to see rubber outside the boot (I think it is for water drainage or something like that) popped out. I guess the strong sunshine got the better of it. I will ask Advance to rectify this as well.

The C5 is indeed a "love it or hate it" type of car. I simply adore the muscular bodywork and huge dash board of the C5......damn majestic!

 

Shame about the 1.8 lacking up market trims though. Has Adv added in more goodies for the 1.8?

Sigh , that's the problem with modern cars with too much electronics and instrumentation (sensors), and they report ""faults" wrongly.

 

Now the cars (mechanical parts) will outlast the electronics, may not make sense to extend the car life by another 10 yrs after the 1st 10 yrs.

If U worry the faulty of those high tech maintainence. Consider the longest warranty if U want to get a car. Not say no fault at all, but at least save the cost.

Yeap, am aware of that. In fact, Volvo has purchased rights to put the GDI engines into their cars, not sure when they are going to and on which models ...

Tried already b4 got the mondy . Focus wasn't import the 2.0l but I wanted 2.0l then took the Mondy.

Toledo maxi only 1.8l, although I like its design.. I dun know, it maybe personally feel--- whenever saw the towing car, its almost German cars lah..

There's GDI 1.8 equipped S40s in Europe, so far not exported to anywhere else yet.

Have a load of people to carry, so that's why I choose the Opel Zafi. If I could go sedan, like I say Mondeo, S40 and C5 would be a good choice. Mit Galant is also a good drive, however it has typical Jap handling.

 

For 1.6, the Astra and Focus will be a good choice.

Was previously driving a 8 valve Scenic - great car, bought second hand. Would have stayed with it until I needed the extra 2 seats behind with an increased need for child car seats - damn they take loads of space.

 

Yes, I am a Conti advocate, owned a Jap car once, decided not to get back to one unless there is a model that gives a Conti ride.

Yeap, but I am quite selective when it comes to Conti cars, not all Conti cars are better than the Jap car.

 

I tend to have a go-between between ride, handling and reliability.

The new Toyota Corolla has relatively quiet engine, and reasonable sound insulation, however it suffers from too soft springs; same problem as previous model.
