Fabiaman 1st Gear January 2, 2002 Share January 2, 2002 (edited) DocDrake, Kyleng, Pointyewe and Fabiaman are in... anymore Skodians here want to get a remote alarm in a group purchase? For cars of other makes, we are keen to get a remote alarm for our Skoda that does not affect the double-lock feature in the Skoda. Preliminary findings is that only higher models of the remote alarm are able to retain that feature (those $100 type cannot). So if you have any lobang or kangtao of a cheaper make of the remote alarm that is programmeable for double locking, do give us a shout! Or otherwise, if yourself am looking for a solid solid high grade keyless entry to you car.... might want to consider tagging along with us. Once confirmed the model and make of the remote, I will get a few quotations from a few sources. No favouritism since this is almost a commodity and price will be key. Installers that I will approach will be reputable ones like Pin Liang, Dynasty and maybe Hong Guan (I dunno them though). If you have any other installer to recommend I approach, do leave a note here. Edited January 2, 2002 by Fabiaman
Classicbbs Neutral Newbie January 4, 2002 Share January 4, 2002 Hi fabiaman, i'm interested in fitting remote alarm too. not sure what you mean by double lock feature, but my renault has an imobiliser trigger by the key fob and need to ensure that the alarm does not affect this feature. I also dont need too many 'bells & whistles' ie . fancy features with the alarm. got to secure my car now since I have somehat upgraded my ICE. cheers Pat

Fabiaman 1st Gear January 6, 2002 Share January 6, 2002 Myfocus, I am not sure what Skoda use for the immobilser, maybe DocDrake & Sky8807 knows the answer. I was just told that we need a higher make to accomodate the double locking feature of the car. So is the immobilser a factor to consider when deciding what remote alarm to use? Okay, so I will get quotation for a model that does not affect the immobiliser and the double locking features. Rgds. Will the alarm work on a Focus? focus uses Siemens immobiliser. what does Skoda use?

Skoda_Man Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Share January 6, 2002 The original Remote lock cost about S$200 (just equipment) and using the remote only does single lock. They still need the VAG to activate the remote function. I've been told that by the service centre that it can be done but, they do not have the know how as in what are the parts needed to order (coz the factory do not package them into a nice package and sell it to their distributors and service centres). Do you know if the installation will involve re-programing the ECU etc... Does Dynasty know how to go about doing it? I really hate to end up with the electronics screwed (and compromise the safety devices in the car??).
DoctorDrake Neutral Newbie January 6, 2002 Share January 6, 2002 Sorry, I don't have any information about the locks in my VW service manual. It probably has to do with not telling everybody how to defeat the lock and immobilizer!
Toyoweil37 Neutral Newbie January 7, 2002 Share January 7, 2002 Thanks Fabiaman . As you can know through my nick, I am driving a Toyota (Corolla Liftback) '93 model. My car is very original, don't know what to do with it yet. Any good suggestion?? Your car looks really cool man, nice combination.

Myfocus Neutral Newbie January 7, 2002 Share January 7, 2002 Thanks all the same! The system info was obtained from inside sources, and yes, you're right, the car mfgr normally won't go around telling the whats and hows of the security system used. Let me see what I can find out and decide if I want to join in. Sorry, I don't have any information about the locks in my VW service manual. It probably has to do with not telling everybody how to defeat the lock and immobilizer!
Latzu Neutral Newbie January 7, 2002 Share January 7, 2002 Guys... have you paid a visit to HockHin? My dad got a coupon from an issue of Highway mag for a remote/alarm system called "The Wall" for about 200 odd dollars. It has the double-locking feature which will suit our cars. Kyleng Neutral Newbie January 8, 2002 Author Share January 8, 2002 Skoda-man brought up a point about the immobilizer. Are they capable of keeping this feature?
Fabiaman 1st Gear January 8, 2002 Share January 8, 2002 Okay , hi guys.......... - DocDrake, - Kyleng, - Pointyewe - Fabiaman - PeterLee - Toyoweil - Classicbbs Rushed to Dynasty right after work today to enquire abt the prices of the remote alarm. After that, rushed to PinLiang to see them closed liao, then rushed to Speedworks at Katong Odeon. Okay Dynasty quote are as follows : VIPER - without voice & without the flashing viper (normal version) = SGD320 VIPER add Viper flashing logo = add SGD48 VIPER add voice module = add SGD140 CARSTOP II without voice & without the flashing viper (normal version) = SGD350 CARSTOP II (plus engine auto start) = SGD480 Engine auto start refers to the engine starting by itself just by the remote control. Cool feature to have but heard to be giving problems. I am not sure if these prices are attractive as Jason didnt seemed too impressed abt the potential bizness of 7 cars all together. I wasnt sure if he got what I meant by the group buy as I stressed twice in my conversation with him but he didnt seem to have that glimmer in his eyes as I would have expected. PinLiang was closed, so will have to call tomolo. Speedworks guy - Wayne was really nice. Told me that they do not stock up any Viper prdts but can check for us if its a group buy... also told me to call a Eunos shop (gave me the namecard) for a quotation.. will call tomorrow. Told me the auto start feature of the remote alarm is something they do not want to do as they are fearful of customers' complaints. Next to check are: - Boom Trading - Pin Liang - Speedworks - King's Way (recommended by Speedworks - at Eunos Ave 7A) The model I think I am more keen on is VIPER ES300... so any out there with lobang for that model... the market quote is SGD320... any cheaper, pls alert. Tks. Will post again the prices from the above selected sources. ↡ Advertisement
