Tea3 Neutral Newbie January 21, 2004 Share January 21, 2004 Hi, would like to know if anyone has experienced this before. Lately, my Fabia's engine has been stalling or threatening to stall spontaneously, regardless of whether I am driving (on the expressway) or engine is in idle. I recently sent it to Servo/Dennis & had my whole clutch system changed, which cost me a big bomb. He attributed the stalling to my worn out clutch. Now that it has been changed, I shouldn't face that problem by right. However, yesterday, I had just reversed my car into the parking lot & was gear was in neutral. Suddenly, the engine threatened to stall again. I stepped on the accelerator but nothing happened - engine didn't rev at all. It felt as if no petrol was being pumped into the engine. Can someone help...maybe enlighten me on the mechanics of the system that makes the car move from the stepping of the accelerator to the workings of the engine? In and out of the workshop and had many parts changed but problem still persist. So finally decided to sell the car. I hope your mechanic can rectify the fault! Cheers! Does the car stall at idle or only when u engage gears (fwd or reverse) also when it dies, how many times did you have to crank before the engine fires up. I could think of the following for now : 1) Fuel pump starting to fail...(oso include fuel filter dirty) 2) car engine out of tune (need to check rpm at idle and if it fluctuates) 3) Power transformer (if your car has it...it provides the voltage to fire up your coil and distributor) hope it gives u some insights.. Hondacrv Neutral Newbie January 21, 2004 Share January 21, 2004 ya i had the same problem wif my Fiat Uno years ago and had the fuel pump changed... at first it was alrite but subsequently the problem came back again.. so sold the car then got this honda civic GL which gave the same problem! but this time is the key thingy (dono wat's its called; put in the key and crank) that was causing the engine stalled... so changed dat thingy and problem solved... Ace_t Neutral Newbie January 21, 2004 Share January 21, 2004 I had the Uno too and it first it was the fuel pump, then followed by the power transformer, just above the distributor.
