Subaru R2 S

The engine revs hard on pick up even though I am particularly light on the gas pedal...

Revs up to about 3,000rpm before the car starts to move off...

Is that considered normal for R2?

I realized it tough to find parts for R2 too...

Does anyone know where to get Iridium plugs & steel air-filters for R2??

Please share, thanks...

plugs is easy, can get denso ones easily.....PM me if need to....

the steel air filter is possible with modifications from whitesnail, pm me if need to.....

i prefer running on stock though........the stock plugs are already iridium plugs.....

I recently downgraded from Mitsubishi Colt to Subaru R2 as well. Wanted a more economical car. Was looking forward to the claimed 24km/L FC, but FC so far is around 12~13km/L... Nowhere close to the claimed FC of 24km/L, even though I had been driving it light-footedly under the "ECO" mode... Any fellow R2 owner care to share about their experiences with R2's FC?? Thanks.

actually was looking for a car for my wife a few months ago. Considered the R1 and the R2. The R1 had only two doors, so not really practical for everyday usage. R2 was ok, but once we tried the Mitsubishi I, that was the only car that my wife wanted. Fuel consumption is about 16km/l for the I, which is not really too bad. Considered the price premium before we bought and we calculated that we would only be paying about $60 more a month for something more practical with more space. Only issue is that the I does not really like corners very much due to the high CG

I like the outlook of mit i over R2. The only thing that stopped me from buying Mit i is the rear mounted engine. Maybe i am just conventional. It actually feels hot to have engine under the rear seats. Also, since it is turbo, i thought the maintenance would be higher as well. Also, the price of the car is significantly higher for me.

Buy something you like is more important. As long as you like the car, buy Mit i. By the way, i think new Mit i is more than 70K now.

turbo is definitely a plus point for the mini car range but I'm not for the idea of having a rear engine as well i just love to open up the bonnet and peep at the engine bay every now and then haha

to be frank R2 didn't appeal to me at first but somehow its looks grew on me and it seems quite an uncommon car on Singapore roads i'd think that i came across more mitsubishi i than R2 whilst driving

i have to admit that the engine is rather noisy though

i was wondering if it'd be wiser to soundproof the engine bay or the doors if i want to reduce engine noise?

does anyone know?

If one is considering R1/R2 or Mit I, other alternatives include rarer models such as the Peugeot 107 or Citroen C1. They come with Toyota's award-winning 1KR-FE VVT-i all-aluminum engine block.

Good performance and road handling. Fuel consumption easily 17km/l and above. Currently own the latter with a stick shift.

bought a second hand one which was in excellent condition, low mileage and the owner had already paid up for two extra servicings plus the road tax for 11 months... new 70+k, second hand 2 yr old 40k, plus its the sports edition with the bodykit and rear spoiler and a turbo gauge.... :)

i got it as low as 13km/L. On average, it is around 17km/L. I'm rather heavy footed, but 80% is expressway driving.

when my wife was driving, she got around 20km/L. but she was too lightfooted on acceleration.
