Bonnet insulation against engine heat

Recommended Posts

Though of installing an insulation material(no sure what the real name call) in between the bonnet & engine compartment to protect the bonnet paint, what yours advice?

 

Able to recommend the brand/workshop doing this sevice?

You can either buy the self-adhesive wooly type from from Autobacs or get the aircon insulation sheet (Aeroflex) but you've gotta apply contact adhesive yourself. I'd advise you to buy the special contact adhesive that's specially made for the sheet rather than normal contact adhesive as you'll never know if normal advesive can withstand the heat (sun) after a while.

 

In both cases, it's utmost important to prepare the surface first. You must make it entirely grease/oil free. For me, I used degreaser first before using a soapy sponge and finally rinse with water.

Just a teensy weensy bit, as sound can still come out from below the engine compartment. If your main purpose is to reduce the NVH, I suggest you look elsewhere.sly.gif
