I suggest U try 240kPa or 250kPa all round and note the rear tire may need slightly (10 or 20kPa) less.

I pump around 40kPa above recommended on my brick's front tires as the factory specs are too low and causing shoulder wear on my front tires. The rears are fine with factory specs. [crazy]

Of course lah [blush]

Max pressure is indicated on the side wall of the tire but usually shouldn't go above 2-4psi of manufacturer recommended pressure.

e.g. for my brick:

recc 33psi, I pump 36psi (front)

recc 30psi, I pump 32psi (rear)

So far best setup for me is the above pressures after trial and errors and butt feel [:p]

Hi Silverh,

The ghia version of the focus is quite different from the comfort and the Ambiente version.

1) leather wrap steering wheel,

2) wood grain triming for instrutment panel & door,

3) one more room light,

4) dimmer : speedometer panel,

5) s/s triming strip for door step ( only at fr dr ).

6) electric control driver seat heigh adjustment.

7) internal dr opening handle in chrome, dr panel also some diffen.

The main obvious difference is that that will be a GHIA embled on the back of all ghia model.

If you have fitted in the foglights then u will have the rheostat. This is found in all models of comfort that have foglights installed

The fact that you have your focus for only a month and clock only 1000m plus km confirm that you are driving the new focus 2002 comfort model. If you wish to check it out, just go to onemotoring or ur log card and check ur omv. If it is 14-16 k then it is the comfort model. If it is 18-22k then it is the ghia model.

I am driving a comfort 2002 model as well and unlike u guys I have 16 " rims installed. This should increase my fuel comsumption. I have gotten my car for just 3 months and have clocked 7000 km. (have neber travel further than woodlands).

My fuel comspt. is about 10 km/l. I am very sure that I am clocking about 370-380 km when it reaches the 1/4 tanks level. That is approx. 35-50 l. Focus full tank is about 55 l and remember even if u fuel light lights up, u sld still have about 5-7 l left.

Actually the back tyres does not neccessary have to be less than the front. In fact if the car is for family driving where it is common for 4 people to be in the car, the tyres behind should be at least the same or even more than the front.

I think Focus stock tyres are high profile 60 right!? not to worry whether comfort- its already comfort tyres. So first should considerate the higher pressure. [:p]

Thanks Oinkened, btw what tyre pressure do you use and it's yours an auto or manual ? I think I ought to get my car for a early checkup. Seems like my Focus is the most thirsty around !

The suspension is quite firm, so with the higher profile tyres, it would be more comfortable [:)] Mitigates the firm suspension. My tyres feel like they have too much pressure already! [laugh][laugh]

U're right on this point. Whenever I have full load or airport load I'll pump 36psi front and back. Most of the time I am either solo or only have one passenger up front so never really biased for the rear much. [;)]

Issued on 16 April 2002

OUCH! ONE MORE FOCUS RECALL

Ford has issued the ninth recall for the otherwise pleasant Focus compact.

The latest safety recall involves more than 500 SVT Focus hatchbacks; the

company says the throttle on the high-performance model could stick in the

open position. The SVT Focus is built along with the other three-doors in

Hermosillo, Mexico. No accidents or injuries have been traced to the

problem.

The fuel consumption for my Focus has improved. I increased the tyre pressure to 240 for front and remain 220 for the back tyres. So could be the change in tyre pressure of somehow the engine begins to be more efficient after a while. Anyway, I travelled to Ipoh (Msia) last weekend and my full tank could cover 600+km. Really enjoyed the drive. It was very stable even when I hit 170km/h. Fortunately I didn't get any summons even though there were 4 police blocks along the way ! I attribute it to me slowing down when approaching overhead bridges and blind spots 'cos there's where the TP likes to locate their cameras.

However, I still can't help noticing the "tee tee" sound from below the car each time I parked my car. Anyway I will check it out when I send my car for 1st servicing. It has covered 3100 km.

I realised that i get better consumption if i pump V power. [:/] Previously at half tank i got about 240km now with synergy 8000 i got only 210km.

You have travelled 3100km and you have not gone for your first service?? [shocked]

Well, it's because before I went Msia it was only 1600+ and after I came back it hit 3000. So that's how it exceeded [:)]
