Softer springs?

Hi,

 

Thinking of changing my suspension springs to softer ones. The ones on my Laser is really too stiff for my liking, can feel every single bumps on the road, even very small ones. Have already replaced the shocks with stock ones (KYB Excel-g), but still no improvement.

 

Could anyone advise where's a good place to go for works and good advice on car suspension? Most workshop just ask you to change this change that, can't give proper advice.

 

Btw, I'm a bit confused with Progressive springs. Is progressive springs more confortable than stock ones? The more tightly wound part of the prog springs suppose to absorb all minor bumps?

First thing first, are the suspension setup on your car stock??? was the car lowered ???

 

Most after market springs, be it progressive or non progressive, are normally harder than stock springs

So far, everything about the suspension is stock, except the 2 front dampers changed to KYB Excel-g series. The car is not lowered. Have changed to 15" rims last year.

 

So I guess there's nothing much I can do, except to save up for a more comfortable car in the future?

another way to soften a bit is to switch back to 14" rim & use '60' profile tyres

Hi, I'm on the same quest as you. My ride's suspension is quite stiff and is looking for a more comfy one. Have u found the ultimate springs/shocks yet?

First of all you need to find out what is the spring rate for your stock spring. Then you can get a aftermarket spring with a lower spring rate, provided the agent brings that in. Progressive springs is softer initially and gets harder as the spring compresses thus they are good at absorbing smally humps and road strips. Would be highly recommended if you only drive on the street but not into track days. they are more expensive also.
