Rayleigh 6th Gear February 21, 2004 Share February 21, 2004 Hi Guys Need to check with you guys the following. 1)In auto car, if you stop on a slop (eg HDB carpark), with the gear in "D" mode, if you release your foot brake and does not step on the accelerator, does your car roll back? Or is there a slight/heavy roll back? 2)Is is ok for roll back? Will the gear box or the engine be damage in relation to question 1? 3)On that slop mentioned earlier, must the gear be shift to "2" mode? 4)I test drave my friend's matrix (brand new) yesterday and had a shock when the car roll back while in "D" mode (moving from stationary on a slope). I think this is an abnormal behavious. Could it be because the car is too heavy and the creep forward force cannot overcome the weight of the car on the slop? 5)In auto, what is the procedure in moving off the from slop without damaging the car. 5)In auto mode, normally at what speed when the fourth gear is engage. Or is there a slight/heavy roll back? Your car would roll back if its a steep slope, unless the gradient is more gradual. Usually its only a slight roll back. 2)Is is ok for roll back? Will the gear box or the engine be damage in relation to question 1? No problems at all, both engine or gearbox would not be damaged. 3)On that slop mentioned earlier, must the gear be shift to "2" mode? No, leaving it in "D" is fine 4)I test drave my friend's matrix (brand new) yesterday and had a shock when the car roll back while in "D" mode (moving from stationary on a slope). I think this is an abnormal behavious. Could it be because the car is too heavy and the creep forward force cannot overcome the weight of the car on the slop? Like I said earlier, it depends on the gradient of the slope and probably the weight of the car. Nothing abnormal about that. Its perfectly normal. 5)In auto, what is the procedure in moving off the from slop without damaging the car. One foot on the brake, tranny in "D". Move off, release brake, push the accelerator, thats it!! 5)In auto mode, normally at what speed when the fourth gear is engage. Can we see the gear change at RPM needle. Just a few more doubts, In relation to Question 1 and Question 4, will the roll back stop? Cos when I tried on my friend's Matrix, the car rolled back more than a half a meter and still did not stop until I step on the brake or accelerator. Is this normal? Rayleigh 6th Gear February 21, 2004 Author Share February 21, 2004 Magfocus Paiseh to bother you again. In relation to question 2) you mentioned that the gear and the engine will not be damage. Why is that so? If the gear is need "D" mode. The engine is already engaged and trying to move the vehicle forward (As seen on flat surface). Therefore at that instance the car roll backward, isn't that back roll reversing the motion/action of the "D" mode gear? Hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Dualie Clutched February 21, 2004 Share February 21, 2004 Auto can does roll back if the slope is steep enough. Once it start rolling, it will roll and roll until U step on brake or accelerator or if U engage a lower gear. This is NORMAL. A manual car will roll on the slightest gradient, wherelse a auto car need a steeper gradient before it will roll back. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Magfocus 5th Gear February 21, 2004 Share February 21, 2004 As the others have mentioned, the roll back would not stop, until you hit the brakes or reach level ground, or hit an obstruction Basically, its perfectly normal for an auto car to roll back on a slope.
