I would chose the Picnic (and I had already bought one). The value of space and convenience is significant over the other models.. this is important especially when the kids are quite grown up (hence needing larger space for comfort) or when he wants to drive the whole family up north and needs practical bootspace to hold the luggages. I really enjoyed the space as I could easily accomodate the pram + bicycle (for my kid) + groceries, and even with my parents on board.

I agree the road roadtax is higher.. but when compared to Sienta, if he drives for 10 years, the difference is only abt 7k. FC is subjective to the driving style, but to me it costs on average $50 per month over my previous 1.5L, amounting to abt $6k more for a decade.

As someone has mentioned, Sienta's insurance may be more than Picnic due to that it is from PI and its rarity. This is also subjective to many factors. FYI, I am paying abt 1.1k to AIG with 40% NCD.. it should be lower next year at 50% NCD and when I switch to a cheaper insurance company.

Last but not least, the engine in the new Picnic is quite powerful. Honestly, I seldom fail to overtake without hitting over 3k RPM.. [:)]

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice. I am working my sum. I was considering between the 1.7 and 2.0 as well. Finally decided on the 1.7. Test drove it and feel it ok. With four in the car, the pick-up was reasonable when I floor it. The gear ratio seems to be quite well spaced out unlike the Mazda 3. First gear to second gear, the jump too big, you feel a sudden lost of power. Nearly couldn't overtake a taxi from a stand still!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know what the actual fuel consumption is like for the stream 1.7. Please provide driving style and type of roads travelled on. Thanks in advance.

im driving 1.7 stream...and my FC ave is ard 10+km/l
