Hi, Can you tell me what is the ballpark $ for the Caldina and Voltz? Is there any specific Parallel Importer location that I can view the actual model?

Thanks.

MS

Caldina is being brought in my one of the following. I can't really recall exactly which PI... you can call and check with them [laugh]

Saw their ad on the Caldina in the papers, but can't recall also...sorry.

Think it should be Richburg as they have a Caldina in their gallery LOL [dizzy]

http://www.richburgmotors.com/

http://www.ricardo.com.sg/

The prices for the car shouldn't be more than $100k [sweatdrop]

Like I said, it's better if you check with them as they can let you know more information.

If you do go down and check out the Caldina, see if you can take some pics for all of us [laugh] 'cos I've only managed to drool over it viewing overseas websites [rolleyes]

Hi,

I saw the caldina on the road in sgp and also have a detail look of the car at tokyo's toyota showroad... [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup] very very sporty looking MPV. but a bit low head room if u dun mind. It'll be my 1st choice if i could afford.

also saw the Toyota matrix (or Voltz here) in my coy headquarter in US , my US company got ppl own one, very common car in US, it's a bare one (no fancy body kit like the voltz here), a little bit like my Liana HB, but more sporty and power.

u may consider Meriva too as i like the deisgn and the space. Scenic also not bad and everything can really fold flat and the hatchback is square unlike Liana, means u could arrage your bulk item more easier and neater.

my last choice will be Hyundai matrix, no that it's no good, in fact it's better space design then Liana, but it's just too COMMON....like wearing a Giodano shirt....(no offence to Matrix and Giodano fan, i got a full wardrobe gio shirt too [:p] )

oh....how about Liana, Ok, it's a su-su-ki, but FC is quite OK (i got 11-12km/h for 1.6 A), space wise passager seat 3 ppls very comfortable but not 4. backseat fold can not be flat. lookwise subjective, some frez said sporty but some said family look....engine a bit noisy, power not prob full load (4 passager + 1 driver + some bags) drive up north a couples of times.

happy hunting !

Hi, Thanks for the insight. I do not have the pricing for the Caldina, but I think it would be out of my budget.

Could you please confirm on the Liana Hatchback? I think I read somewhere that the back seats can split and fold flat.

Also, I am thinking of an in-between. What about the Toyota Spacio?

Any information or comment on the Spacio? Where can I view the car?

Regards,

Hi,

Agree its a in-between car. And its very very rare in Singapore.

I have a Spacio myself. Its the 2002 X-edition, with 1.5L VVTI engine, comes with SuperECT. Can sit max 7 people with fully retractable 3rd row seat.

Powerwise, ok lar, although a bit underpower with 7 people abroad. But then at crusing speed, you won't notice the difference. Pickup with 1~2 person is very good though.

Comfort-wise, 3rd row seat is strictly for kids. Very narrow legroom. The front 2 rows are very spacious.

Handling-wise, better than the Nissan I drove before. Does not row much although the car is quite tall.

Dunno where u can view the car, seems like no PI has stock on it..

Suauki liana hatchback, get the 1.6 cos 1.3 lack power as the car is quite heavy.

Thought Honda odessy is quite ok. Think its about 80++k

Hello Mr Morris, Thanks for the insight. Let me know where can I get the Oddassey for $80K++?? I think you may be refering to one without COE.

Being more budget concious now, I am also concerned about running cost. The Trajet may be a drinker, I heard.

That is why I am narrowing down to:

Suzuki Liana 1.6A

Toyota Spacio (if I can find a PI that can bring in one)

Toyota Wish

In the above order.

Anyone else with any other suggestions?

Thank you for all your interest.

Hi,

no sure about spacio, seldom seen and never test drive one b4.

for Liana HB 1.6,

1) power: wise OK, as i said, full load is still acceptable but u can heard the engine roaring. I've test drive Kia Caren 1.8 before, the car engine quite poor when only 4 person inside the car. So i think Liana 1.6 still OK for it's size.

2) interior: 3 big size adults at back is quite comfy. The orignal fabric seat is very nice texture and sporty look, i reccomended u not to opt the local make leather. Front seat can not fold back doen 180 like the COLT, so couple can not do the bedroom thing comfortable in this car :). Driver seat got height adjustment is a plus but no lumbar support adjustment :(.

3) Truck or Boot: Back passger row can be fold in this procedure: lifted the seat 90 deg, the fold down the back support not 180 flat but with a 30 deg uplifted. this is a minus point, that mean the full truck can not be a full flat flr like Jazz, Colt, Matrix, Renault kind of arrangement. If die die want to find the plus point of this design is the back seat is more solid and support the other design seat basically is 'removing' the seat support from ground.

Another point is in the truck, the inner back wheel is protruding such that the truck is not squarish and hard to arrange ur storage.

4) other storage: not as many as those in the Renault or Colt or even Matrix, u got a co-driver grove box (not big though), a torsional spring hinged drawer under the Head unit, 3x bottle slot, 1 square slot, 2x 12v outlet, 1 sunglass holder and driver door, 1 ashtray, 1 arm rest for driver, shoe drawer for co-driver.....

5) safety: ABS, dual-air bag, reverse sensor, alarm, immobilzer (i need to comfirm, not sure if the car come with it....somehow i heard my SE told me it got...)

as a reference for those car i've tested, IMHO, if u looking a car for those bell and whistle storage or luxurious space for truck, my rank is:

1) Matrix

2) COLT

3) Liana

4) Jazz

if u look for passager comfy

1) Matirx (passager seat can adjust in-out somemore !)

2) Liana

3) Jazz and Colt ( a bit small for me to get in and out the car)

for look:

1) Jazz

2) Colt

3) Liana or Matrix (depend on personal like)

For ur case, seems like u got bugdet on bigger car (7-seater), just wonder why u also put Liana in ur list, for ur kind of budget 90K-100K it should be:

1) Wish

2) Stream

3) premacy

4) Pinic

5) Trajet

6) Carens

I never test drive any of the above except carens, i'll definetly go for Stream or Wish if i'm u. But for Wish, make sure got urself a good PI....aftersale is important...
