Are you going down South? If yes, just get something with bull bars! Kangeroos are a problem on the road manz! Night driving more dangerous... Don't drive too long at one stretch, driver fatigue is a road killer! Rent Corollas from "No Birds" is sufficient liaoz!
Seansene 1st Gear May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 Safety and reliability are not dependent on fuel type. And driving a Landcruiser, you won't have to worry about either, people in far-flung, god-forsaken areas swear by it

GoopPwr Clutched May 26, 2004 Author Share May 26, 2004 (edited) Fellas, many thanks for the replies. driving to margarate river with two more adults, so no can do with a corolla. yup, heard many have do with some kind of all-wheel drive, one of the reason we've got the land cruiser. Good to get that confirmation again here. Also, going for something I can only dream of driving in S'pore... oki dorki, will go for 1-2 hour drives with stops for pee and some cool fresh air. Will also be stocking up with some of their arontts biscuits in the car for the needed sugar-high and creamy milk chocolates once again, thanks Edited May 26, 2004 by GoopPwr

Bro, driven the Tarago few times there already so thinking for some other exciting drives. Tagaro is huge and comfy, shiok can take many people and dump all the stuff behind. Seansene 1st Gear May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 (edited) Environmental reasons my foot. Diesels make up a huge proportion of tree-hugging Europe's cars (something like 40%), and the latest legislations ensure emissions that are much better than even 10 years ago. People and agencies (such as our local ones) can go on about diesels not being as clean as petrol engines in some areas, but the same can be said in reverse. Meanwhile, does morally-high ground Singapore make Euro4 control compulsory for its diesel fleet? Face it, the only reason we're being denied diesels is because of the money the gahment will lose as a result... Acemundo Supercharged May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 someone correct me if i wrong. but my experience is diesel tends make the car less responsive especially during cruising speed. however, diesel car is usually faster at starting off.
Yeobh 4th Gear May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 (edited) Spore is testing diesel vehicle emission on Euro 2 std, will be implementing Euro 3 soon. Looks like the take up rate for CNG taxi and buses will be very slow due to lack of refilling stns and higher operating cost. Yeobh 4th Gear May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 New Diesel cars are as good as petrol cars - some can have engine rpm as high as 5,000 - this is possible due to direct injection/ common rail system. Also all the controls on the diesel pump are now electronically actuacted. Comparing Diesel and petrol engine, diesel produce more torque ( pushing or pulling power )
Gendut 2nd Gear May 26, 2004 Share May 26, 2004 Jump into one of our local cabs and you'll get a feel of how diesels sounds. . Other tahn taht, maybe you got to get used to employing the glow plug . The reason less diesel cars around? $$$ in govts pocket lah.
