Junjie 1st Gear May 31, 2004 Share May 31, 2004 Hi bros, Went JB to installed bodykit last Friday...now looking for spraypainting...checked with a spray shop this morning, was told that they will apply somekind of fibre fill up and then apply putty over it, from there they will buff the putty to blend in with the front and rear bumper and lastly spray over it....this procedure will cover up the visible line between the bodykit and the front /rear bumper....my question is: some bros that fix up bodykit were against the idea of having putty over the bodykit then spray, they said just spray over it without applying putty to fill up the gaps as putty will crack easily....so how should I proceed from here, I m confused, should I have putty over the bodykit or just spray over it... Any bros got experience in these can advise.....appreciate yr kind attention... Cheers ↡ Advertisement
Laserghia Neutral Newbie July 11, 2004 Share July 11, 2004 Hi Junjie, what my painter did to my car is fill the gap with silicone. It just look like those black rubber lining that u see on those factory fitted kits.

Wankie Clutched August 17, 2004 Share August 17, 2004 Hi, Better not to putty over it, can be quite difficult if not impossible to take out next time. My previous kit wasn't puttied over but was still damn difficult to take out as the installer used a lot of silicon to stick it to the car in the end, had to respray bumpers as paintwork was damaged. Best is if they can use silicon sparingly just to cover up the gaps. My 0.02.

Milgram Neutral Newbie August 18, 2004 Share August 18, 2004 Hi Junjie, you drive a Getz right? Do you have pics of your ride with the bodykit? May I know where in JB did you go fix up your car and how much did it cost you? Thanks!
Eryker Neutral Newbie August 18, 2004 Share August 18, 2004 (edited) if u putty the connecting area and spray, it will crack when you bump yer kit, esp the front lip. my fren's car has a hairline crack along the whole 'puttied' strip. and to the people that design mscps, stop putting humps at the bottom of the down slopes!!!! edit: just realised old thread...heheh Edited August 18, 2004 by Eryker
Junjie 1st Gear August 18, 2004 Author Share August 18, 2004 You can get the bodykit in JB at Xtra...cost less than 200 sing...but maybe now can get cheaper bcos moffix and Auto accessories having price war....why not login to www.getzclub.com.... more lobangs can be found there for getz... Kevs Neutral Newbie August 17, 2005 Share August 17, 2005 But with putty, the hairline cracks are greatly more visible.. I always prefer a bolt-on kit with minimal riveting..
