Yes you can. I'm assuming it's a 3-series E46. The 5-series E39 also can.

If yours is a 7-series, then I'm lost! tongue.gif

No problems..should be able to do it. The regular installer that the bimmer fellas go to is at Hong Guan, located at Bt Timah. Do a search in the BMW forum and you can locate him.thumbsup.gif

It can be done.

It depend on how much you want to do.

1) You can maintain your orginial BMW HU. Connect a amp and change speakers for a simple upgrade.

2) Remove the HU and use a aftermarket HU. The installer will install a piece of plastic over the orginial hole and your headunit will be in the centre only. From here, its up to you on how much you wanna blow on your system. Basically its the sky's the limit.

The advantage of (1) is that you can actually maintain your control from your steering wheel. Bad is that upgrade is limited...not much of a choice as you only can do a amp and speakers...cannot install preamps, X'overs etc.

Advantage of (2) is that sky is the limit...no stopping you of transforming your car into a boom box. Disadvantage is that you cannot control the HU from the steering wheel.

Better installers would have no problem doing such a job as E46 are not a rare sight on our road and some of the owners have did it before.

You can call the following installer for a check on the options avaliable to you.

Hong Guan, JM Mobile (aka Jimmy Mobile), Dynasty Soundcraft, Zoom Audio, Tye Electronics, Mova (Bukit Timah)

yes you may do so. BMW's ECU is quite complicated. I take it that when you wanna fix ICE, your gonna go to the extend of fixing woofers, amps ... etc. Thats gonna suck alot of electricity from your car, therefore performance wise, pls do not expect much esp. a valvetronic 318.

However if you wanna say maintain or increase your performance, you may choose to fix pulleys. Cost approx $400 from BVO. Apparently the pulleys provides the kind of performance you would expect with your aircon, lights, radios, or misc items switched off. Therefore giving the extra juice and throttle response.

I am not sure if it comes with RCA, but it can be done. Seen it done on many E39s and E46 before. Even the C Class (new ones) also can be done...the controls on steering wheels and display on the speedometer is retained.
