9kg for 18"................that's quite light! Good..............now you have both the shape you wanted and the lightness to go with it! [:)] End up quite nicely, right? [:)]

Yah, I think you can forget about the ST115. A lot of disappointed users! CSC2 may give you the quietness. Actually, if you're not about to fly through corners, Pirelli 6000 offers a comfortable and quiet ride!

Decide how you want to drive your car and then look for the tyres that suit your style! Remember, performance (high traction with superb cornering abilities) does not go hand in hand with comfort and quiteness. A compromise is what you can best hope for! [;)]

I think my OEM 16s are heavier....never weighed them before selling them off. The spare steel 16" is 17kg with 205/50R16 Michelins thought [:p]

I'll try to measure the weight of my tyres next time and see how heavy they are. Can't seem to find a 'tyre weight guide' in the net. [:(]

By pure estimation a 215/45/17 tire weights around >5kg [;)]

err... think a 195/55R15 tyre already weight abt 8-9 kg, weight them personally lsst time (Falken and Goodyear)

Well if 17" tires are around 10kgs i guess there's not too much point comparing a 8kg rim to a 10kg rim.........

Hi TB,

Just a stupid question ...... [blush]

Which tyre is heavier: a 215/45/R17 tyre or a 205/50/R16 tyre or a 195/60/R15 tyre?

(Assumption: all tyres are of the same make and model)

True, but the overall weight of the tire and rim combo plays a significant role in the unsprung weight of the car.

Light unsprung aids better inital launching response but high speed road holding may suffer. [crazy]
