CAI for Mit lancer

Hi, my friend wanted to install K&N filter and CAI for his End 98 Mit 1.3A Lancer....I believed for filter not much an issue but I have diffcuilty trying to figure out how to remove his original air trunking to replace by heat resistant 2 1/2" tubing....not much area to access with as block by th ebattery tray panel, was toying the idea of installing a open pod for him instead of panel filter....Any Mit owners that have installed the above mentioned....pls kindly advise, greatly apprecaited.....

bear in mind that it's a Auto, if you used open pod, low end torque will suffer

Auto cars already no pick up, still want to mod open pod, siao ah.........please dont flame me, just honest opinion.

actually it'll make the pickup worse with open pod on an Auto car

but everyone have different driving style, some like manual, some like auto
