Hi, I've got the same problem. Went back to MM and they retuned the idle speed, but it continued. So in the end, they just replaced my ECU with a replacement from Japan. It worked since. Go to Mazda forum and post it under the Mazda Motors Feedback folder and attention to Philip Lu, the Customer Service manager. They are pretty helpful. Hope this helps.

Its not always happening to me. Anyway I will just bear with it till I got time to go MM and check.

Dear bro and sis,

I am experience this idling issue whenever the car is in D while waiting at the traffic light. If the aircon compressor is off, the rpm will drop to maybe 400-500 and the engine will vibrate slightly. Any other Protege owners face this problem? Any cure?

Cheers!!

I have this prob B4. Took my mech one whole day to find out, a choked airfilter!!!! [nod]

If you change new airfilter, still same, then go back to MM to check ECU..... [sweatdrop]

My mileage only close to 20k. Dunno whether it is the air filter. Anyway I will be doing my 20k servicing in 1-2 weeks time. Will be changing to K&N Filter. Then lets see how. If I were to go back to MM, it will be at least in mid August.

Thanks for your information!!

Cheers!!

Hi, i have this problem last time. But MM solved for me. U need to go back to them and ask to change one of the electronic controller (some power module). They need 1-2 week to bring in from Japan... half a day job.

So bro, that means must go back 2 times ah? First time to go check and second time to change when they bring in the thing ah?

Headache man!! [dizzy]

wah.. at least its a common prob among protege cars.... good good. more easy to locate and MM got no reason not to change.

well pal, looks like only now then MM realised there is indeed a fault with their ECU thingy. think must go there and stress the point lah. if not, they will juz say its a common thing and wave off the whole issue.

do u have a whinning noise coming ur engine bay when travelling above 110 kmh ?
