Liuhao Neutral Newbie July 23, 2004 Share July 23, 2004 heard sometime ago that left tyre and right tyre are different in pattern (to form a symmetry or something). i just changed my tyre but i found all of them have exactly the same pattern. not sure if it's right or not... my tyres are michelin pilot preceda (195/55/R15). the tyre pattern is something like this: -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] so now my car top view looks like this: REAR -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] -]||_] FRONT is this right? thanks. ↡ Advertisement

Bigpicture Neutral Newbie January 13, 2005 Share January 13, 2005 Michelin Preceda is a non symmetrical (asymmetrical) tyre, which means the inner and the outer patterns are different. On the car, the outer pattern must remain on the outer side and the inner pattern must be on the inner side. For your case, one side is WRONGLY fitted. Refer to the attached picture for the right tyre to rim fitting. That means all the 4 tyres must be fitted the same way onto the rim. Outer pattern on the outside, inner pattern on the inside. -Cheers

Ahdi Neutral Newbie January 13, 2005 Share January 13, 2005 yep. look at the side of the tyre. either it would state which side would be outside. or maybe some tyres would have the direction of rotation pointed. as for thread starter, look at the word OUTSIDE. Octopus 3rd Gear August 21, 2005 Share August 21, 2005 Dear All, Refering to asymmetrical tyres like Michelin Precedas or ContiPremium Contact, does the design comes in right-hand side and left-hand side mounting? Meaning, one for left-side mounting and another one meant for mounting on the right-side. Appreciate if someone would explain/clarify this. Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
