KUMHO 712

This morning I went down to Leong Seng Ubi to change all my existing tires (195/50-15R). At first intended to have ES100 but it's cost $90 ea (my pocket sure to burn one hole ), so no choice asked for Kumho 712 that cost $65 ea (Save $100 for that ). To my surprise the tires were more quietier than my existing GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 and the grip had also improved. Maybe that's only the starting, will only know after few days.

Wow!! sounds good... think i'll look for Kumho next time round.... btw... can anyone tell me.... which tyres get worn out faster? the front or the back ones?? as my tyres is newer on the front... and older at the rear... pls advise...

If I'm not wrong, front tire always worn out first.

Does this brand come with 14" ? can buy 2 tyres only right me intending to change 2 that I suspect has uneven wear....

Gosh! Then you'll have 1 tyre with really good grip while the rest... uh, I wouldn't really recommended it actually

But there's still somebody who did that! Like my car that came with 3 different brand tire, one Michellin, one ? and two Goodyear.

That goes to show that we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover! IMO, Kumho 712 is a step above the ES100, performance wise, and similar with the Eagle F1. I'm still very happy with this tyre! Cheap and good! After scrubbing down, it will perform even better. However, it will get noisier too.

Then we shouldn't follow his example, as we are more knowlegable drivers now! It's OK to have different tyres on the front and back but the left and right should be of the same make. Ideally speaking, all tyres should be the same but it's not possible always.

What's your view on the Toyo Vimode compare to Kumho 712?

Have you ever brake hard on these tyres? Tyres should be the same thread/type, at least for similar front ones and similar bacck ones. This would ensure same braking force to pevent swaying at much as possible. Tyres with different threads also make more noise.

My 712's threadwear is 280. No head to head comparo yet between the Vimode as I haven't tried the Vimode and my friend has not tried the 712! He did mention it's as good as his AVS Sports.

Me using 215/45 R17 91W Kumho Ecsta 712 too. Quiet on staright runs but noisier when turing, due to side wall design. Good grip. Cheap and good, recommended by tyre shops too.

The funny thing is.............the 215/45 17" is the same or slightly cheaper than the 205/55 16"! Better not sing too much praise abt the 712 or it will surely get more ex!

 

You mean tyre shops now recommend that tyre too? They used to say "better not use the tyre, Korean brand, you know......."

 

Another plus is that most performance tyres from Japan are usually rated V (for 16 inchers anyway) while the 712 comes with a W rating.

Tried going through Toyo website buy it's in Japanese. Didn't see any threadwear indication there.

Whenever I brake hard, my steering will sway to one side. And very dangerous when driving at above 100kmh, my car will auto sway to next lane w/o my notice. Very pressure .

 

Yesterday had changed all to K712.
