En0203 2nd Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 The interior material is indeed a big turn off. Drive wise, it's good. suspension a bit firm, but has a raw sporty feel. Engine sounds good and powerful when rev....the same cannot be said when the car is in the lower gear. Equipment level is high. Those sold in S'pore come with trip computer, cruise control, climate contrl, better sound-proofing on the doors, steering wheel control, etc. Other impressive items are the large brake rotor (front and back) and styling. Rear headroom is bad. Overall, not a bad buy if high equipment level & a better than average handling are what you are looking for. If you are looking for is better engine technology, interior material and brand name....Vios will be the one to consider. ya equipment wise, it's much much much better than the one we get in MY, though the price is also much much higher ↡ Advertisement
En0203 2nd Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 At the price category, rather think it closer to Vios than Cerato or Matrix/Elantra for its size and weight. But its performance and handling sure made many Vios owners regrets. about the size, it's in fact quite big, it has a 2600mm wheel base like the altis. but the rear headroom is very bad no thanks to the shape
Silver_blade Turbocharged August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 Yup. I was rather impressed with it's wheelbase...which could partly explain why it's ride and handling has improved significantly.
En0203 2nd Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 Yup. I was rather impressed with it's wheelbase...which could partly explain why it's ride and handling has improved significantly. it's sharing waja's wheelbase that's why it's so long but somehow waja still feel more spacious than the Gen2 don't know why

En0203 2nd Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 Could be b'cos of the styling of the car. Smaller windows perhaps? ya, could be becoz of the shape. the curve at the back is causing it to have very low head room.. think that's why it feel crampy at the back i am looking forward to see the sedan version

Hattee Neutral Newbie August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 That's wat Vios owner thot. Heard some lost at least $10,000 on the 1st yr. Dealers treat Corolla and Vios as different as Lancer and Wira.
Typhoonz 4th Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 So is it good or bad?
Hattee Neutral Newbie August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 In our sharing with car friends, many think Gen-2 is definitely better than Vios. Unless you are so vain as only want to impress people with the Toyota logo. Actually don't know whether anyone around is impressed by Vios, even with its Toyata logo or VVTi Inside. Typhoonz 4th Gear August 20, 2004 Share August 20, 2004 In performance wise, the Gen 2 is a clear winner over the Vios... FC, interior and looks wise I tend to prefer the Vios...
Magfocus 5th Gear August 21, 2004 Share August 21, 2004 I mean his reviews are variable? depending on his moods?
Paddie 3rd Gear August 21, 2004 Share August 21, 2004 I don't think the reviews are that different... both refer to the nice styling, good handling, slightly firm suspension settings, poor interior quality and the need to rev the engine hard before it delivers its best. I kind of agree with these points, but I would add in the bad rear headroom for people over 1.75m tall. I think the back seats are most suited to the hunchback of notre dame ↡ Advertisement
