any idea if there would be a need to change the internal cotton of an operated muffler at any interval?

Those material that they put in the muffler is definitely not cotton. It would have gone up in smoke. Its kind of gauze-like to allow more exhaust flow.

Cant help you on this but I think it should last a long time cos it is just to provide some back pressure.

my muffler is still original one wor. 21yrs already.

Thats what we called good quality.

sometimes old car parts can last longer. saw alot of new car start to do alot of servicing already

i think with operated muffler, the packing have to be changed once every 2 yrs.

in that case, better stick to stock.

It depends on the owner, like me a very fuzzy one, little sound also cannot tolerate.
