Hey guys, installing a turbo or supercharger for starlet legally is possible. Check out the Hot Stuff magazine about the supercharged Lexus IS200. But even then, would it be as simple as that?? Guru Genie, do we need to change other stuffs if we have such add ons?? You know, once you install the turbo or supercharger you need to change other parts to stabilise the car.....would there be complications??

that one was a straightforward case as it's a TTE supercharger made for the IS200 and comes wif all the necessary EC, TUV, etc certificates of compliances from TTE factory. i reckon it might hv been easier and cheaper to juz buy a RS200 and do a lite mod instead.

yes u may tc or sc yr car.. how ever. after yr application approve, yr road tax will rise, yr insurance will rise too. as for applications, u will need to give 10 reasons (i tink) of y u wan to tc or sc yr car. alot of complications. u need to haf a drawn diagram of how the turbo will be bolt onto yr car. a complete diagram of how it will look like. den muz do contacts with tis and tat of the manufacturer of the car make. alot of hassle. i tink the $500 fine is more worth it... [;)] IMHO

hmm ok here goes ...

He wrote to LTA, request his veh. be turbocharged. LTA sent a list of documents required.

From my friend's experience, he wrote to the car manufacturer and ask them for a letter stating his car is safe to turbocharge or supercharge.

He then went to a garage and have the mech print out a blueprint of how the turbocharger will be installed.

Blueprint sent to LTA. LTA approves, friend bought a turbocharger, fixed it in, sent for a few inspection. (You bear the cost)

LTA approves, sends a cert. Time to get smokin' [thumbsup]

Very costly. Without turbocharger or labour charges, inspections ... paper work itself cost $1500+-
