there is no solution - if everyone follows the simple adage ... KEEP LEFT unless OVERTAKING, then there isn't a need for a solution. [thumbsup][thumbsup][thumbsup][/reply]

You don't do much driving, do you ??? [laugh][laugh][laugh]

That's exactly what I was doing (travelling 100km/h along with all the other cars on lane 1) when the guy tailgated me on the BKE if you read my earlier posts.

he's right. KEEP LEFT unless OVERTAKING.

:)

===================================

I agree but, in morning traffic, the 2nd & 3rd lanes are usually occupied by G,Y & X vehicles & slow moving cars (about to filter mostly) moving at 60-70km/h, so the only place left for cars is the lane 1 where you can maintain a reasonable speed.

a classic case ... when in doubt, ad hominem...

So you don't do much driving then.

Maybe after you get your lisence & start driving for a few years, we can continue this discussion. BYE. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Just curious to know, if Lane 3 speed is 50 km/h, Lane 2 speed is 70 km/h and Lane 1 speed is 90 km/h, and ALL the lanes are full of long lines ahead with vehicles pretty close to each other already, would you give way to a tailgater if you were on Lane 1? Or continue at 90km/h as per the other cars in front of you?

Honestly, I would just continue at 90 km/h and ignore the bugger. Because I AM overtaking the slower cars on Lane 2, and given a chance I'd have been travelling at 110 or 120 km/h, except now I can't because of the cars going to 90km/h in front of me.

So does that make me a road hogger?

then every car is tailgating right? [sly][sly][sly]

Wrong. Cars can be close enough for someone not to be able to cut in from lane 2, and yet not be considered tailgating.

For that matter, so what if everyone is tailgating? Would it change your assessment as to whether or not you consider me to be road hogging, given the circumstances? I'd really like to know.

Hi going by the maxim of "KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING", and you are still overtaking even though speed is not high, you are technically not roadhogging, if conditions are heavy as you mention and there is no decent space to move in.

eg. heavy conditions on CTE outbound in the evenings, doesnt mean that everyone going 30 kph on lane 1 is roadhogging right ?

So I think its fine, but move in when there is a chance, even if there is nobody behind you.
