Oneofakind Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 I have heard of Evo eating proteges lurking in the tampines/hougang area from other forums but have yet to meet one of these frankeinsteiners. My colleague witnessed an EVO8 probably MR as it was titanium grey being pushed by a black protege on TPE last night. My colleague was driving his mazda protege when the pair flew by him on the right at what he described as 'frigging' fast. Strange thing was that the protege appeared to be pushing the Evo8 which looked liked it had difficulty pulling away from the protege. Anybody here ever met this monster of a protege? Anyone can guess it set-up ? ↡ Advertisement
Mondeost220 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 hmm i have seen one protege with AP racing brake calipers and huge cross drilled rotors...duno watz lurking under its bonnet
Oneofakind Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Author Share September 27, 2004 Probably one of them....another tell-tale sign would be a large air-dam at the front of the bumper for the intercooler It is rumored that there is a gang of them plying old tampines road & TPE for victims. Evos seem to be a favourite target, my neighbour with his WRX also fell victim to a black protege at old Tampines Road some time back. With enough money u can indeed make anything fast but why not just buy a REX or Evo in the first place? I am very curious though as to whether an engine transplant has been done on them....most likely if it can push an Evo8.....even if you TC'ed the stock 1.6 L unit it will never come close to Evo* performance. Mondeost220 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 mayb these people's mentality is to go all out to challenge those evos and let those evo/rex owners noe that never look down on normal family saloons... hey..dnt underestimate the power of TC can easily TC the car with HPT to insane hp.... maybe on straight roads these cars can challenge those rex/evo...nt sure hw it wld handle with so much horses on the front wheels

Lala81 Hypersonic September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 if i'm the TP, n wan to catch both a wrx/evo driver speeding + a massively illegally modded car who is also speeding n wan to take both of their licences away, i wld just follow wrxes n evos in the east... Ahliew Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 (edited) could it be linus? (note that the above post is a joke, any resemblance to any real-life incidents are purely coincidental) Edited September 27, 2004 by Ahliew
Oneofakind Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Author Share September 27, 2004 They are doing a good job in that case I am a TC fan, my last three cars being HPT TC'ed continentals. I am very aware of what a HPT setup can yield but that is with engines designed to take the power & torque, else what u will have is something fast and unpredictable as in u don't know when the engine is going to fall apart on you. With all that power to only the front wheels, it would be nothing short of dramatic.....but with properly set-up performance shocks and low profile rubbers, might not be so bad. Bigger concern is can the stock chassis take the power But as u said probably on the straights it may have an advantage but in the bends and turns as in PG or Sepang, the Evo would still rule Come to think of it never heard of these proteges in PG or Sepang for that matter..... Mondeost220 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 Come to think of it never heard of these proteges in PG or Sepang for that matter..... their empire is the 400m sprint drag strip
Oneofakind Neutral Newbie September 27, 2004 Author Share September 27, 2004 Most of us would be safe from these chaps unless u happen to drive an Evo or Rex and stay in the east But if you do not subcumb to their taunting, they would leave you alone. It's when you drag with them that things can go wild. My neighbour with the WRX said they are actually quite reckless once they get into it....blasting down well in excess of 200km/hr down old tampines road towards hougang . He was whooped by a black one along old tampines rd and did not chase as the protege was going into insane speeds and far faster than his rex ....that why must be careful when crossing tampines road late @ night. But IMHO a modded Evo8MR or Rex would still reign supreme over these frankensteiners .
Lala81 Hypersonic September 27, 2004 Share September 27, 2004 they have the option of doing illegal mods while most pple still use their cars without fear of being pulled over.
