CTE AMK Accident

Sadly after I posted a thread on taxi running someone down, today along CTE AMK, a taxi rammed 2 motorcyclist down.

As I drove by the accident scene, the ambulance is there trying to revive the male rider while the female rider in shorts remains lifeless in her helmet. The road was dry at the time of accident.

Now the thing is, the motorcycle was now where to be seen. So I thought maybe they tow it away. But how can that be if the police isn't even here ?

As I drove "further" down, the motorcycle was approx. 75m down the road away from the couples.

So... you guys imagine how the impact was like.

I think this is going to get worse in years to come... [shakehead] 2-3 yrs back...a taxi driver at Jurong West at traffic light ask me wind down window and ask me how go PIE...I tell him...infront traffic light turn then is PIE already...what this show?? Inexperience on road...even I..Not a taxi driver know how to get to PIE...And I don't stay in Jurong nor go there frequently....His experience in driving is a ?????...Without experience and rushing to pick up passenger and earn a living is dangerous....

Before we start jumping on taxi drivers, we need to remember that motorcyclists are also not exactly very safe road users (think both have equally bad drivers).

With all those idiotic motocyclists speeding and cutting across lanes without signalling and checking, it is not surprising that they will end up with accidents.

Based on the description above, it is definitely a high speed/high impact accident for the bike to land so far ahead. Kinda make u wonder what speeds the taxi and motocycle were driving and how close they were at the point of impact.

I may be wrong but one possibility is that the motorcycle cut into the taxi's path and suddenly jam brakes....

Actually in such a case of being "rear ended", its pretty clear cut the car or whoever is at fault. But if the motorcycle e brake for no reason on an empty road, then its their fault but I highly doubt so.

I took a glance at the 2 lifeless body and they aren't your typical ah beng or ah lian. They were in their mid 20s dressed in normal everyday clothes and the bike isn't a very fast one either. Probably mid range kind of bike.

Maybe you might call this stereotyping but if you think about it, for the motorcycle to travel such a far distance, it has to be a case of taxi not being able to brake in time or wasn't braking at all. If both motorcycle was travelling forward and the motorcyle filtered into the taxi's lane and hit its bumper hence losing control, the bike would not have travelled as far as 75m. So I suspect the taxi crashed into the bike at a pretty high speed ... Thats just what I think from what I can see at the accident scene. I've been trying to think of the other possible senarios the whole night but couldn't come to a conclusion. [:/]

This morning... I was in lane 3 and this taxi cut into lane 4 (bus lane) and then tried to cut back into lane 3 when he saw a van stopped in front of him... I held my lane and as this idiot tried to nudge his way in, I blasted my horn... and he had to cheek to horn back at me...

Lucky for him, I was going for an appointment, or else sure take out my camera and take his picture already

All it takes is some writing in to the cab company and the driver will be in trouble. If a few people write in about the same incident, he will be in deep $hit.

I think none of us here are "jumping on taxi drivers"...Most of us here being regular driver understand what is happening on the road everyday...And we are just giving our personal opinion and thoughts base on what we see everyday..."jumping on taxi driver" imply pin pointing them even without any thinking or reason...which I think most of us do have facts to support our claim...
