Kelpie 2nd Gear October 8, 2004 Author Share October 8, 2004 Hi there, 1. Got a chance to talk to Malaysian colleagues while in KL Office this week. The 1st batch of proton had the most problem with the powered windows. The "engine caught fire" was an isolated case, which also belonged to the 1st batch. 2. Most Malaysian drive no-frills cars. To them, car is a necessity so they are not used to paying extra for ABS or airbags. According to them, most will not buy if the cost is too high with added features. The export version is different from the default model sold in Malaysia. The export version sold in Singapore has ABS, dual airbags, EBD, climate control, cruise control, better rigidity and etc. You don't find this in their 1.6L model. I heard 1.8L version has those stuffs. 3. Waja and Wira used 10 years old Mit technology. Hence partly to entice buying interest, its priced between Wira and Waja. Guyver 1st Gear October 10, 2004 Share October 10, 2004 Hi there, 1. It seems that there is no place for Malaysian Made car in the Asian Makes Forum. No choice but to post it here. 2. Heard that Gen.2 1.6M is going for about 59K with airbags and ABS. The stylish design and features easily rival the korean cars and the low-end Japanese made. The review by various magazines are pretty encouraging too. 3. Anyone driving a Gen.2 here? I'm going for a test drive tomorrow and hope it performs like what have been written in the web and magazine. Any comments on this made? Regards, As for me... I'll go for Toyota ....
