Seth Neutral Newbie October 12, 2004 Share October 12, 2004 Hi all, Last week, I have modified my airintake to open pod. Therefore, I appreciate any comments and tips whether it is helpful to change the car exhaust as well. What do the car workshop fo during exhaust change e.g Supersprint. Thanks:)! ↡ Advertisement

Seth Neutral Newbie October 12, 2004 Author Share October 12, 2004 I think mine should be CAI? BTW what the difference between SRI and CAI? Thanks again
Tanzy Clutched October 12, 2004 Share October 12, 2004 You sure you like the louder exhaust? Have you heard the actual thing in action?
Seth Neutral Newbie October 12, 2004 Author Share October 12, 2004 I was thinking more of reducing the lowering the back pressure which is inherent in an exhaust system and thereby increasing the engine horsepower because the "breathing" capacity of the engine is improved, leaving less exhaust gases in the engine at the end of each exhaust stroke. This, in turn, leaves more room for an extra intake of the air-fuel mixture.
Genie47 1st Gear October 12, 2004 Share October 12, 2004 Lets look at a Honda Civic Del Sol. This is CAI. This is SRI on a Daewoo: http://www.daewootech.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=

Seth Neutral Newbie October 12, 2004 Author Share October 12, 2004 Sorry, I have changed mine from CAI to SRI after seeing the car pic that you sent. Thanks!
Genie47 1st Gear October 12, 2004 Share October 12, 2004 Of course CAI! But got problem. Looking at the Del Sol pictures, the position is great because it is away from the engine heat so it is a true CAI. Also near a position of high pressure as the car moves. This position also means suck in water during a flood. Should be OK even if it rains but the possibility of hydrolocking is there. SRI not so great. There is a great volume of air that can go in but will screw your low end torque. Furthermore, it is in the engine bay so the air is heated air. Not considered a CAI by most of the performance purists. No possbility of hydrolocking unless the car is completely submerged.
Seth Neutral Newbie October 12, 2004 Author Share October 12, 2004 Sorry, my mistake again it is still a CAI after seeing your pics again.

Genie47 1st Gear October 12, 2004 Share October 12, 2004 Yes, actually SRI is louder than CAI. Actually with CAI you will not lose your low end torque. AEM CAI's are the best because they measured the intake tube length and lots of calculations to produce nice induction sound that is not loud. That is why they are more expensive than Taiwan made SRI. They got more tube length. If you see their designs, the intake tube can really run all over the place in the engine bay. Not just simply sticking in a short tube with an open pod filter at the end ↡ Advertisement
